Messed up my freaking checkride:banghead:

I was doing awesome until the diversion to Merrill field. At that point I was alittle overwhelmed with getting on with Merrill tower and I did. The problem with the whole thing was the descent. Being four or so miles out and at 2500 feet, to me it looked like I was on the glideslope, but noooooo. To make a long story short, messed up that approach, and didnt do so hot on the next one.

So I have to wait until Wednesday to go up and do it over again.

How long have you been flying?

How long are you gonna fly for?

So whats a week really?

Cheer up you didnt fail a checkride - you learned a lot during your practice checkride:bandit:

Alright, my instructor and I went up and got the descent stuff figured out. I am going to retake that portion of the checkride tomorrow evening, then I start the 800 mile drive home.:)

Off topic: I dont know who the idiots were that put some freaking tall buildings straight out of runway 25 at Merrill field. You really have to get to 500' and turn crosswind.:panic::D

I fell behind the power curve. I didnt start my descent from 2500 feet till about two miles out:panic::banghead:

Private checkride or Commercial?

But like I said, it seemed like an illusion because of my lack of depth perception.

Sorry to hear about that but I'm sure you'll nail it next time.

So when you diverted to Merril were you cleared for a straight in approach? Once you saw you were too high did you execute a go around?

When the examiner said to divert to Merrill I did a 360 to wait for a break in the radio, and to get caught up. It was a perfect 360, I had my altitude nailed, however I should have been descending. Oh well. At least I did most everything else right:)
