UND Records Processing

So how long does it usually take for me to receive the piece of shiny $44,000 plastic in the mail? I passed the 325 checkride on May 25th, 26, or 27th (I can't remember exactly).

I'm going to rent a Beech Duchess to go wine tasting up to Paso Robles with my brother (going to visit Hearst Castle!) for 5 days... on the 4th of July... and I want to make sure I have it by then.

The piece of plastic will take 3-3.5 months. The FAA takes a while to process all the paperwork and send out a permanent. You should have your temporary 2-3 weeks after your checkride/end of classes. I took my 103 ride Mid April and didnt get the certificate until the end of May.

I remember mine took around two months for the commercial, but about 118 days for my private...I'm still waiting for my CFII card.

All of our 141 rides we got our license or rating right away through IACRA.

Not at UND. It's a long drawn-out process.

I hope I'll have it by the end of this month when I need to get checked out in the Beech Duchess for the 4th of July flight I want to take.

What process do they use then?

The records are "cleared" prior to the "test flight" to make sure all the minimums are met, are pre reqs are in place etc. After the flight the records are checked again (mostly to make sure the test flight was done properly) and the corresponding ground school has to clear. Then it has to makes it way to an assistant chief(s) office to be signed.

It takes time, but with the number of students and the almost infinite number of mistakes that can be made, the checks and balances are needed to keep the FAA happy.

Wow, I just called and they just sent my temporary certificate today. I'm surprised that they were that fast (given their usual length of time to send it out).

mine took about 2 weeks IIRC

10 hours in type, Commercial license and Instrument current. I don't have 10 hours in the Duchess but he said it won't be an issue since their insurance regularly waives it with similar aircraft time like the Seminole.
