Do Regionals want PIC?

I have had correspondence with Eagle recruiting and they told me they consider SIC as multi as multi.

Sweet, that's Eagle, not Skywest. We've been over this one before and Skywest doesn't count safety pilot time and doesn't care if you were not PIC.

Now ExpressJet and Eagle? They wanted to know what kind of SIC multi time I had, but guess what? I have part 135 IFR SIC checks in two aircraft, so my SIC time is part 135 SIC time, not somebody logging "SIC" time in a Seminole like most guys applying.

If you are afraid your time might be shady, or if you're looking for shortcuts, then your time is most likely shady.

.

They counted my time as safety pilot when they hired me. They didn't even ask how much of my multi time was as safety pilot. I'm sure things vary from interviewer to interviewer, but I'd think that they'd be pretty standardized when it comes to meeting their hiring requirements.

I would get the rating out of the way as soon as possible. It doesn't look good to have a ton of dual without a good reason

I personally agree with this from experience. When I was getting my C-ASEL, my instructor was a very senior ACA/INDY captain who held interviews for the company. I was in the area for the summer and didn't know him, so he took a look through my logbook to see what I was all about. He specifically asked why I had so much dual prior to taking my private checkride. The reason? I started flying when I was fourteen and took both the private and instrument in the same month... logged about 190 hours prior to turning 17.

For my airline interview, the interviewer laughed because I had four additional pages of solo x-c sign-offs to accomplish the 50 hours PIC X-C required for the instrument ride under part 61... they notice what's going on in your logbook, believe me. I would encourage you to get the rating asap and log it as legitimate PIC.

Too funny. These days regionals are happy to get a warm butt that has a pulse. Meet the minimum time requirements for whomever you're interested in and you'll be surprised how quick that phone will ring.

Also, the only PIC time that counts as you progress professionally is Turbine PIC. For a regional - just get the mins and off you go.

Incorrect. If you go to Skywest with 20 hours of multi PIC and 80 hours of multi dual given you'll get laughed out of the interview room.

John, you sure you don't mean dual RECEIVED? If they'll laugh at you with 80 hours of dual given in a twin....um, there are a lot of MEIs getting laughed at.

I'll call you with dates, I've planned out a day to spend in Dallas and hang with some of ya'll kids.

This thread got me curious.. I worked off and on my ppl for 3 years. I checked my logbook and I have 15.8 PIC and 81 dual. Could this hurt me in an interivew someday? I plan on attending ATP so I can finish everything at a good pace. I need the immersion.

I would say no, that time sounds like it is legitimate and there is a good reason for why it is like that. If the time is legitimate than just explain yourself and you will be fine.

It won't be an issue. I have a very similar breakdown from my primary training (which also took me a good solid 3 years) and I had no problems getting on at Ameriflight as a training captain and then ExpressJet as a first officer.
