I am going to need a DPE for a Private Student. Any recommendations?
He will need to travel to T82.

Well, depends on who you talk to! I have heard use Barnie Frank (sp?) BUT do not use Louis Bahr or Charlie McDougle (sp?) so, take it for whats its worth....Where are you Instructing?

Ditto about Louis Barr, He failed a PPL student of mine twice on the oral, the same guy passed with flying colors with Charlie. He actually cussed me out when I tried to show him in the FAR/AIM where he was wrong about a regulation. I honestly don't know how he stays in buisneess.

Mooney, have you had a bad experiance with Charlie? My flight school uses him almost exclusively, and has a 98% pass rate.

Thanks guys. Charlie is super busy right now.
Has anyone ever used Roger Sharp for a private airplane test?
Also please PM me any gouge on Charles.

So I landed up sending 2 to Mr Mcdougal. He was very fair and friendly, which helped put my applicants at ease. Both passed. The second only had 40 hrs total time.:nana2:

I am sending another to Michard in Brownwood. Anyone have any info on him?

Louis just failed someone on his private checkride yesterday in SAT. the student passed his oral but screwed up the deviation airport, he did everything wrong at that airport because it was his first time and he was nervous!

I sent one to Michard yesterday. Very nice guy. Doesn't like computers or electronics though so make sure manual e6b operation is sharp.

A friend of mine did his PPL. He's a gentleman and hates guessing answers. He wants you to open your books everytime you're not 100% sure about your answers but it's a breif oral though. But really he's cool.

Is McDougal up and running again? His plane broke when I was trying to do my instrument checkride with him, so it was quite an ordeal. He was a super nice guy and pretty fair, though. Very by the books and very into weather (he pulled out all the old school charts most people don't really use). Look in checkride central for my instrument gouge on him.

Michaud is a cool old guy. In Georgetown we pretty much only use him. Honestly, he is pretty easy. I had him for my PPL checkride and will probably use him for commercial and CFII pretty soon. I've got some Michaud gouges somewhere I'll try to find. He's definitely old school, though. I'm pretty sure he still wants the paper 8710's. I can talk you right through the flying if you want me to, but I don't remember the oral too well. I do know that both guys let me look up a thing or two in the FAR/AIM that I was unsure of during the oral.

Michaud is a PIMP. Took my PPL and INST ride with him along with about 6 hours of instrument instruction. Let me know if you have any questions!

Whats up Mike?
