New TSA rules for flight schools?

I was being dispatched at my local flight school yesterday and was blindsided by them asking to take my photo for some new TSA rule with regards to flight schools,which he was not able to really give good details about. When i started training again post 911 i was told i would need my passport/or birth certificate, drivers license to comply with the new rules from TSA/Homeland security. I do not understand this all of a sudden photo business, and was wondering if anyone has heard of this new Bull%$## from the TSA? I was told they started this about a week ago. These people are a MESS with these rules, and need to get there act together and get to the root of the problem. This is not going to stop another 911 from happening again!!! I understand if you are not a US citizen having to jump through hoops, but the people that are as american as apple pie should not have to put up with this from our own government. We really have a bunch of genius folks running this country(into the ground that is).

I think your school is just mistaken. I searched on google a lot, and didn't find a thing suggesting citizens need the photo taken.
 
At UND we must get cleared by TSA before we can start flight training. This consists of showing a document that you are a U.S. Citizen and if your not then there are several other things you have to do.

This is required at every flight school for the primary flight training, instrument flight training, or multi-engine flight training.

Yup. Tough #### is what I say. You want to train, fly, and take up OUR airspace. . .pay up. :)

I welcome international students to come and fly in the US, but please. . . for the love of God - do not cry and moan about it.

My international students didn't cry about the initial costs, but cry about paying $10 for a checklist, or $5 for a fuel strainer.

Did you not read my reply? I gave you a link to the rules. YOU DO NOT NEED A PHOTO, YOU DO NOT NEED TO PAY $100+, YOU DO NOT NEED TO PASS GO.

The only thing they should require from you is a Passport, Birth Certificate w/ Gov't ID, or other documents that are listed in the link I gave you.

If your school is making US citizens take photos, that is their own rule, and not the TSA.

The $130 is also for permanent residents too! So those uninformed spewing their bigot ######## about "our" airspace please be quiet.

Show me where, that $130 PROCESSING FEE is to be paid by CITIZEN PERMANENT RESIDENTS.

Were they happy to know that (more than likely) neither of those two items were made or manufactured here in the United States?

Jea - I know. But, for the sake of trying to clear the smog out of TheShocker's mind. . .I'm still awaiting him/her to tell me where a Permanent resident (NON-ALIEN [better?]) has to pay the $130 ALIEN APPLICATION PROCESSING FEE.
