Fractional Jump Seat

My company is considering the Sentient Jet Membership program. I'm just curious, is there any chance that the our crew would let me ride jump seat? Don't get me wrong - I'd never ask, that would be rude - but I'm just wondering if it's legal or something I might expect if they new I was a pilot.

Thanks!

There are no jump seats in corporate jets. The door will probably be open, though, so once above 10K and the seat belt sign is off you could poke your head in and see if they mind you looking over their shoulders.

Awesome, that'd be really cool. Then I could tell them how much I'd rather have their job!

There are jumpseats in some corp jets. Mainly larger cabin Falcon and Gulfstreams but we have a few Citation Xs with a jumpseat. It is very doubtful that a crew would let a passenger though sit in one.

:yeahthat: We have a person sitting in the jump seat on most flights in the 20, someone always likes our view better (it is).

We had an older gentleman riding with us a few years ago. He came up front and shot the breeze for awhile and acknowledged that he used to be a pilot. When we asked what he flew he nonchalantly said, "Oh.....SNJs and Corsairs." us---------->> :rawk: :rawk:

Another guy talking about flying his Cessna 177 Cardinal around the lower 48 caused us to raise an eyebrow with one of his "not a pvt pilot" type questions. We asked what "else" he'd flown.....T33/CF86s in the Canadian AF.

It's not always the ones in front with the good stories.

Haha, I may not have great stories from my time piddling around in a 172, but I would certainly be willing to have a sixer of Shiner Bock sent to their hotel room if they let me shoot the $!%# for a while with them. Would no doubt beat the conversations in the back of the plane about whose BMW peforms better and what not.

Have you tried Shiner Hefeweizen? It'll rock your world for sure.

No, I haven't - sadly, since leaving the motherland back in '02, I've only been able to get my hands on regular Shiner (I'm actually really happy I can find it at my local grocery store). I need to fly back to Dallas and try all of the other Shiners I've been missing out on - thanks!

Just make sure you aren't fooled by Sentient's lavish marketing and flashy posters. They claim to have a "worldwide fleet of thousands of jets" BULL. What they have is a directory, they are no more than a simple broker, they call a local operator and beat them down on the price, tack on 10% and theres' your price. Do yourself and the industry a favor and call directly. If you need help on how to find the right aircraft OWNING company, I'll gladly help.

I've flown corp jets with jumpseats (GII/III/IV CL601/604) for years and I've NEVER turned down anyone who showed interest in riding up front for TO/LND. Kids love it!

Awesome - thanks for the heads up, I really appreciate it. I'll certainly let my associates know what you said. I think the only reason they were considering Sentient is because they had some arrangement with Amex where you only had to make an initial investment of 100k over the traditional 250k or something.

If they move forward with this, I'll be sure to send you a message to get your advice - thanks!
