Havent heard of any new airports in the making. VGT and LAS handle the freight. I know KHND just opened a new teminal building and a new runway is under construction to relieve a lot of LAS's GA flying. There has always been talks of building another airport by Jean which hasnt happend yet.

I think that might have been in a Jepp revision from like 3 weeks ago. I know there was a crap ton of stuff for Las Vegas in there.

The ILS for VGT just got updated in this last revision from Friday.

I was thinking that new turn might change the VGT patterns a tad. Its started already, I believe last week sometime.

Solving airport noise is simple. Stop flying out of McCarran, start driving down to Bullhead City and the noise and traffic will follow.

But you can't complain about air fares and the lack of convenient flights out of Vegas and get pissed when the airport does things to increase flights and capacity.

Either...

Or...

That's just un-American

New Cargo airport was somewhere around MMM VOR on that huge mesa. But you never know. Mesquite is wanting a new airport and St. George is getting a new one also but only big enough to handle RJ's for SkyW.

I have a huge Jepp package Im dreading it.

Just like I tell people in PHX when they complain about noise at Sky Harbor.

"Drive to Tucson!" ;)

It's not like there's some non-noise mod turbojet 707 screaming overhead at a low climb gradient.

Doug... no matter what the FAA does to help airports there is always someone unhappy. Look at KPHL... and wait to you start flying out of JFK... LOL. People complain they want low fares. More airlines start serving an airport, hence competition, more flights, now delays. Now people scream about the delays, ok... lets try some new flight paths to increase airport capacity... nope... now the flights go over a new neighborhood.

In PHL where the city has screamed about the problems at the airport and the need for increased service they are now fighting the FAA's new plan because of flights going over neighborhoods. Groups in PHL always ask, "why can't the planes go out over the ocean, get up to altitude, and then go on there way ?" These people are clueless...

It never ends...

LAS recently added a right turn flight path. The rich folk in the area of the path are trying to fight the FAA saying its "loud". Aww poor rich people cant handle a little noise. Vegas is a small city, everyone is in the flight path. Here's the link http://www.lasvegasnow.com/Global/story.asp?S=6253312

I was wondering when this was going to start. When we took the tower tour at the last NJC, one of the controllers showed us an early PDF of the new routing and explained it in detail.

The waypoints are named after some airport mangers and controllers. Now, if they could just create an departure that flies straight out west over the mountains, without a turn!

Dude that revision is like a month old by now! Good luck, it took me well over 45 minutes to do it.

You kickin' it in San Diego these days? I'm riding 102 the rest of the week.

OH MAN! Now another city gets to know what it's like to deal with rich people trying to disrupt efficient flight paths. You guys would LOVE to have a chance to sit at a round table with all the snotty people down here that think they own the airspace above their "plantation" (thats what they call all the residential development areas on the island). They complain that the 91 K, 121 and 135 pilots don't fly to the "RECOMMENDED VFR ARRIVAL ROUTES". They neglect to understand that a commercial pilot doesn't have time to browse the airport's website and find the diagrams; the airport's website is the ONLY place they're published.

You know whats funny about this situation. When I moved here to Vegas almost 8 years ago, all air traffic was to the right. No one complained then but now all of a sudden whaaaaaaa "we paid good money to live here in peace and quiet and thats what we expect". Yes, that is what someone accually said on the news the other day.

I'm failing to understand what could be so loud. The only type of plane that is audibly loud would be the MD-80-83 series aircraft.

A 737-300 & NG,757,767,A320,777,747,CRJ series all have newer high ratio bypass engines and are stage III compliant and very quiet.

They even said they'd fly them 1000 ft. higher!

Besides when I'm in Vegas, I'm on the strip and I don't hear planes taking off. But I do always hear those damn helicopters!
