From someone who has had a car totaled by a DUI driver and come within a split second of losing a wife and a 5 and 3 yr old (at the time) all while being out of town on business. DUI's are probably not something to be joked about.

I guess the issue is having a loved one lost or injured to a DUI upsets people, which I understand. Our problem in OH is that even with a DUI or OVI having a job gets you driving privs for work. At my ex employer that ment Mon-Fri 6am-8pm and Sat 7am-7pm. Not exactly keeping people off the roads is it??

I asked if you were joking, waited 2 days and got no response so I thought maybe you were serious. I don't think joking about DUI's is funny at all. I know too many people who have been hurt/killed/jailed because of drunks so I'm sorry if I didn't find the humor in something so deadly serious. I am generally a joking kind of guy so my first instinct was to ask if you were joking.

I wanted to take this opportunity to thank everyone for piling on with the wise cracks. Thanks for making me feel like a total ass.

Now back to the fun...

Eh.... I think it would be very obvious to any "joking kind of guy." Besides I only have 500 post in 2 years... I'm not on here everyday, you should've PMed me rather than flame me for something that was obviously a joke.

As far as knowing too many people who've been involved in DD accidents, sorry to hear that.... it sucks, but maybe you need new friends (for those who have been jailed for it or caused accidents).

Oh, and as far as making you feel like an ass.... sorry, but its just one of my mad skills :p

For better of for worse joking about almost =anything= is not at all funny to some segment of the population. The question usually comes down to critical mass - are there enough people offended to make the jokes stop?

DUI and drunks in general is an almost-perfect example - joking about it used to be =very= funny.

I think those laws are designed to keep convicted DUIs off the road during prime drinking time. Most people don't drink too much between those hours.
