FCC RADIO LICENSE

This thing is a mess to apply for. The forms are not "user friendly" to say the least. How much does this cost? I saw the link on jetcareers for forms 605 and 159 RP. Is that the one a pilot needs, the restricted permit?

How long does it take to get this glorious FCC permit; Acey apparently wants you to have it before your interview. What difference in arrival times is there when one applies for it via the internet or via mail?

Follow-up: how many pilot applicants have their FCC license with them at the time of interview?

Is it worth getting while still in college or should I wait until closer to being able to apply for a 121 job?

It is a one time thing, 75 bucks or so, good for life. Won't hurt to have it. Most places require it now to start groundschool (receipt for the interview).

You can print out a TEMP copy off of the website when your done... so you'll have it for an interview.

The only thing about waiting is... the price may go up again. It only cost me like $50 three or four years ago. I guess now it's up to something like $75.

<Bob, I moved that thread to the Hot Topic Archive in case you want to refer to it in the future. Your link above should still work. It's a "keeper". :) >
Thanks Steve!

Thanks Captain Bob! The hardest part about getting it done that time was finding my wallet! I paid 60 dollars. Anyone who wants to do this might as well get it done now. It certainly can't hurt to have with you during any interview and the price of it will probably keep going up in the future!
