Haha, except for the parallel parking bit at the end, but those cars were spaced two car lengths and the speed was slow enough that if I did mis-judge something, I'd just go into the snow. I bet my floor panels love that snow grinding up on them. haha :D Damn people that don't move their cars on the day they plow the road! :mad:

LOL, the parallel parking drift trick is always the best. :rawk:
 
The next time y'all say it's a closed course, at least cut out the parts where you have on-coming traffic, and are following people.

Remember, the decisions you make now will determine your future in aviation. Have a pedestrian walk out in front of you "college kid professional drivers":sarcasm: , on your "closed course" and it could ruin a lot of lives.

Just something to ponder...enough of the stick in the mud stuff...:p

What mainly meant was that I wasn't doing that stuff around other cars or pedestrians. Except for around my apartment in the beginning and end, but the speeds were slow enough, there was no way I'd hit those cars if I messed up. I'd just spin out in the middle of the street and maybe hit some snow. Aside from that, normal driving was immediately resumed if the situation came up. That at and it was 3 in the morning. Look at those headlights of mine. I can see pedestrians a mile away. ;) I know what you're getting at though, but I understand the risks.

It's pretty hard to get the police to shut down a couple streets for you. :)

What he doesn't realize is that the driving in that video is far safer than any of the horrible local Grand Forks drivers we have here who are on their way to knitting class.

Well, look how well I got the car stopped for that red light. That's from 50-0 in a very short distance. Thresholdbraking>ABS.:rawk: I HATE driving cars with ABS. ABS significantly increases your stopping distance compared to threshold braking and you can't threshold brake a car with ABS because the system will fight you and you'll lose braking ability compared to just stomping on them and letting the car figure it out. :mad: I dont want the car to do any kind of "figuring it out". :D

Here's my traction control and ABS: BRAIN!!!!!

I look at it this way; when you know how to drive a car like that, you know what it takes to get the car in that situation. That means you can keep your car from getting upset during evasive action. If it does get upset and starts sliding, you possess the skills to continue controlling the direction the car is traveling. So that in turn makes you a safer driver to ride with.

It also makes you a more fun driver to ride with if you actually know what you're doing. I can't stand it when I ride with people that are doing this that don't know what they're doing. They just pull the e-brake or step on the gas to see what happends and just go along for the ride. They don't try to control where the car is going at all. Screw that crap. If you notice, I track a perfect racing line around most of those corners.

Having said that, you are in the UND section of a professional aviation, or future professional aviation forum. Yes, all of us did stupid things when we were younger, myself included. However, I did not post it in a public forum designed for professional aviation. I did not provide evidence of my stupidity to the world, either. I am not saying this was stupid, just saying I have done stupid stuff.

Yes, it appears you probably have more control in those circumstances than most drivers, however, given you doing donuts in the middle of an active street in less than opimum conditions, and providing the evidence to the world is not the smartest thing to do.

My entire first post was simply to remind y'all that some actions can have serious consequences. Yes, your lights seem bright, but when sliding down the road, how do you know there isn't somebody around the corner when you're doing 40-50 MPH, or whatever you were doing, drunk and stumbling home, or broke down, or whatever?!

Now, if a bad situation happens, and now you have a video of doing stuff not normally done in a car, and a prosecutor gets a hold of it, guess what...your situation just became much worse.

When I interviewed for this new job, one of the first questions asked was do you have any convictions, violations, etc. The Chief Pilot then said he had to let somebody go since they couldn't fly into Canada since they had a Misdemeanor from 20 years ago on their record.

Just think about what your consequences could be for your actions now. That was my point.

Enjoy college, and have fun in ND!!! Okay, now enough stick in the mud stuff!!! BTW, it's mid 70's here in Florida!!!:laff:

I checked every road I drove on both for traction ability and undue hazards. The road I was doing doughnuts on is in the middle of no where and I would be able to see if there were cars coming. If someone was stumbling around drunk, they would most likely die before they made it that far out of town. :) The only illegal thing done in this video was running the stop sign leaving the menards parking lot. Turns out, no one has jurisdiction over those stop signs and they are BS. Yes you should stop anyway, but no one can violate you for running stop signs in parking lots.

The internet is completely annonymous. The only way to prove your identity is by getting a court ordered supeana(however you spell it, haha) to get the I.P. address for my computer. Yeah, I can say all I want who I am, and plenty of people can refer to me with my name, but that doesn't prove my identity.

Again, I know what you're saying. I'm just trying to show you that there really wasn't anything in this entire video that was more dangerous than normal driving.

sidenote: i believe the statute of limitations on that whole crime/canada thing is 5 or 7 years.

sounds like chief wanted an excuse to let someone go.

Nope, actually according to the owner, they had to fly another crew up there to finish the charter, and it cost them $$$$$$$. From what the CP said, it was some obscure thing (Misdemeanor) from 15-20 years ago. Not sure what it was or the actual circumstances, but this is what I have been told.

Anybody more in the know (on the Canada thing), please let us know so I don't put out bogus info.

I just started ground school yesterday, so as I'm interacting more, I'm sure I'll get the whole scoop of things.

His identity behind the video cannot be proven nor can it be proven that he himself made the video. It could've been him posting someone else's video and earning the credit... what if it was his roommate who posted the video... or someone else using his wireless connection to post it on You Tube, which would reveal his IP address? :D

Also, there ARE NO PEDESTRIANS in North Dakota. There are NO PEOPLE here anyway.

in essence, if it has been over 5 years since a minor crime, you can apply for a certification of "rehabilitation" by providing your rap sheet, court documents, etc etc

if it has been less than 5 years, you have to apply for a temporary resident permit, which has similar requirements but more scrutiny, from what i understand.

I'll be the first to say that I don't know much about law, the internet, and how far it can all go... But by following that link, I found out that your name is probably Tom. I looked at the other videos you have up, and there's one of you on camera. Plus you're taking credit for all this driving. Perhaps the internet is not "completely anonymous"! :)
