What flavor of reserve? Navy, Marine, Air Force, Army, Coast Guard?

Navy & Marines only take aviators with an active duty tour, unless things have changed since I was in!

I assume you're talking about AFRES. If so, yes they do send civillians. From what I heard the process is similar to the ANG. I know that you need a unit to host you but in the Reserves it is a bit more complicated than that. Let's see what others have to say.

Yes I'm talking about Air Force Reserves. Sorry for not clarifying. Thanks for the quick responses thus far.

The 301st isn't sending anyone to UPT soon, much less an off the street guy.



What people have said is correct. I've heard that in years past there have also been unsponsored packets that can go up for a board and if a unit needs a body to send to UPT, they'll pick you up.
