A Point to Ponder...

...that I have seven room mates combined in two apartments. Living cheaply on a regional FO salary!

You'd save a couple hundred bucks if you'd freakin' key lock your phone so it'd quit redialing every time you grind up against a tranny's bum at a club/bar!

Are all of the other guys pilots? Geez, 7? I don't think I could handle more than the 3 I have now. The extra fridge (of a second place) would probably make it a little easier.

that is a sad reality to the meager pay with regional carriers today. i guess it is all part of paying your dues.

Best advice I've found on this site thus far!!

I dunno... It depends on where you are based of course, but on first year pay I was able to live with just one roommate in a relatively nice apartment, pay off a student loan and put money in my 401k. Granted pay is different from company to company, and some people may be putting more away in savings but it is all about how you live.

I wish you had a crash pad closer to JFK! I'm not going to be on reserve, but I sure in hell am going to need someplace to take a combat nap after arriving from PHX on the redeye!

I might have weird hours, I snore and I'm prone to screaming "I'M COO COO FOR COCOPUFFS!" randomly.

Do you do it because you HAVE to do it (no money left over at the end of the month after you pay bills), or because you WANT to do it (saving all your money)?

There's a huge difference.

I know a few CA's that live with 3 or 4 room mates, they're just that cheap. They do however have a lot of money (compared to me :D) in the bank. But it comes at a cost.

And I agree with Bobdduck (ethan?), even as a first year FO one can do "OK" if they are cheap. The PSA guys can probably even afford to buy decent homes in their bases. Must be nice :D!

Well ya know, my hours aren't always so normal either. If that's all Doug is screaming I can handle that. I lived with a guy in pilot training prone to bizarre outsbursts...
