I have a great Polaroid my RIO took while we were in a 4-G inverted dive with a MiG-28....I'll post it as soon as it gets declassified...

I bet that, that MIG-28 was really an F-5E TigerShark or a T-38 Talon!

My nextdoor neigbor back in San Diego was one of the "Mig" pilots in the movie. At that time he was an instructor at Top Gun. His wife was one of the librarians at my middle school. The "Migs" were F-5's.

So what's the difference between an F-5 and a Talon? They look the same.

They are the same airframe, but have different wing, engine intake and nose cowl designs. Also the F-5 has stations at the wingtips to load sidewinder missiles. The YF-17 was designed based on the F-5/T38 airframe characteristics. The YF-17 is the inititial design for the F-18 hornet.
