Phraseology rant

they pick up on this particular thing. "Fox" and "Foxtrot"
Anti-Climactic. In this transmission, the reciever is expecting the sound of "trot" to follow the "fox". The absence of the sound causes a delay in the processing. "...", *oh, he's not gonna say "trot"..ok.* message recieved.

This also points out that in some cases abbreviation causes a longer space in time to recieve, process, and understand.

I am constantly hearing mistakes in terms of IFR readbacks and unfortunately ATC most always says "readback correct" I've taken more than one flight where the clearance was "cleared to TRI via rdr vectors, climb runway heading to 3000 expect 9000 in 10 minutes, squawk, 1234, contact dep on 123.45.

Once or twice When I read it back I mistakenly said climb to 3000 expect 8 in 10, instead of 9 in 10, and ATC says "Readback correct" THen the co-pilot pointed out it wasnt correct, so I had to clarify. Anyway, my point is I think half the time ATC hears this stuff so much that ATC as well as pilots need to be vigilant about taking your time with readbacks.

Not that this a matters a bit, but not so in my case. The tail number is 3FL.

Three fox lima rolls off the tongue so much easier than three foxtrot lima.

But, I do try to say it correctly.
