NJC Dates are finalized....

We've decided that NJC 2007 would be best played using October 21-23, 2007 in Las Vegas.

It's a Sunday - Tuesday, which will provide cheaper hotel rates, hopefully easier non-rev access into/out of the city, less "crowd", a guaranteed Allegiant Tour on Tuesday and overall, more hang with your JC friends time.

what we'd like everyone to do is stash away $20-$50/month so that the cost of the hotel/travel/expenses doesn't overwhelm you when October rolls around. You have roughly 10 months to save up the money needed...i'd roughly guesstimate you'll need about $500-$600 for hotel/expenses alone (being overly conservative)

We tried to see if we could set up a type of reserve bank account but we figured out that probably wouldn't work, so we think everyone stashing money away in a cookie jar, between mattresses, in a savings account, what have you, between now and September/October will work out better for everyone in the long run. Start looking for travel prices NOW, don't wait till September.

I will be trying to acquire group room rates again due to overwhelming demand...they might be a bit off the strip but I'll try to get us as close to the strip as i can (walking distance)... and I'll let you know what i find.

Doug and I might go up for the weekend (why the heck not), so if anyone wants to show up early by all means, have some fun!

I'm thinking of holding the official event (in the Bellagio) on Sunday night. It'll be able to accomodate those who can only do the weekend and it might be a nice change of pace to hold it the 1st evening we're all in town...anyone have thoughts on this? I'm open to opinion....

Pengy - do you think we can get Sim time at all during the week or should we scrap that idea? Should we try for another TRACON visit?

Do we want to include the mock interviews again? Tracy, are you up for that?

anyone have any input thus far? :)

I am there! Start putting money away folks.

We stayed Sunday night at Monte Carlo. The rate was 59.00 for that night!

I can't wait!

I like the Monte Carlo... it's a small casino but right in where all the action is!

i forgot that weekday rates are that(!) inexpensive... well, forget getting group rates, I'll just book a bunch of rooms at one of the casino hotels then - how bout that?

question is - which one.. there are SO many to choose from.

I'll be there for sure.....I may drive up there, dunno yet. If anyone from PHX wants to carpool and share the ride, let me know.

looks like the stratosphere is running $50/night....thats not bad.

I take it back, they are not that low for that particular week... sucks!!

looks pretty cheap right now.

checkin 10/21
checkout 10/24

frontier msp-dev-las

$357 at the Stratosphere
$394 at the Excalibur

that's per person for 2 ppl....DAng Good rates

sample rates:

Stratosphere - $55/night
Hooters - $89/night
Paris - $150/night
Palms - $160/night

Anyone up for a condo type deal again? Except for the construction noise last year, it was a pretty good set-up. Right next to the Bellagio. I think we paid $1150 for three nights and it slept 8 people.

We will go for the Tower Tour/TRACON visit.
Will arrange a tour of some type with Allegiant Airlines, ramp/operations (Last year there was a MX Class on the same day & they had no ramp ID cards for us.

I will try to get sim time, but, I am not holding out hope. If we want to do Mock Interviews, we can probably get a room from Allegiant, or maybe one of their Check Airmen can conduct it?

this is what i had for last years NJC website. I should be getting the new website up shortly explaining what all we'll be doing this year.

NetworkJC & NetworkPF are co-sponsored by Jetcareers.com and PilotFamilies.com.

The activities provided during the weekend offer an opportunity to "break the ice" amongst your peers, have some fun, learn something new & talk aviation career and lifestyle.

This year, NJC is going to be held at a 2025 sqft Executive Suite at the top of the Bellagio Hotel. Snacks and beverages (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) will be provided. The suite number will be sent via text message on the day of NJC to your email or cell phone nuumber that you provide upon registration.

We are also working on Sim lessons, mock interviews and an ATC tour at KLAS.
we'll be working on TRACON/tower tour at KLAS again, Allegiant Airlines Tour, Mock Interviews and other aviation related events as well as non-aviation events like group hike, Nine Fine Irishmen gathering and all sorts of networking type opportunities.

We charged $20/person last year just to pay the food/beverage bill as we provide all the snacky/drinky items.. this year, we'll probably charge $30/person so we can cover part of the suite expenses as well as food/drink.

Man I am soooooo skiping class to come.

I really wanted to go to '06 but alas I had 2 exams on friday. Students dont like exams on Mondays so most of the profs dont give exams on a monday.

Not making any promises with this coming on the tail of a Germany trip for me and my wife. IF I make it, it'll probably be just me, which means a LOT of begging and pleading with Nessa. :)

I will make one of the NJCs this year, be it Chicago, Germany or Vegas. I'd like to hit at least two of those, though.

Southwest will likely have their Las Vegas crew base all in order by October (slated to open in September)... that might be a cool tour.

We are starting to save too. I have my vacation that week, plus now we'll be able to afford it! H-Dawg is a little concerned she won't be able to get the time off work, since she won't have vacation time in 2007. We'll try and figure something out.

$20 in the piggy bank. Yup, I have an honest-to-God piggy bank! Hawaiian shirt and everything. It is my "travel" piggy. :D
