When do you find out what hub you will be in?

I was talking to a pilot today and she told me that she has interviews for skywest, horizon etc. I told her, 'thats good, at least they aren't like Eagle where they tell you nothing about your hub or what you will be flying about a week into your training.' She responded with 'uhhh, actually, thats how all airliners do it". She gave me a weird look and just tried to make a fool of me in front of the other instructors... I just said, oh ok and kinda walked it off. Was a bit pissed, but whatever.

I thought you were informed at most airliners what you will be flying and where your hub will be either before training or at interview so you can decide? I didn't know they were all like Eagle where you are told while training, and already have the contract signed?
 
Sometime during initial.

At Skyway, I didn't find out until about the third week in, and at my present airline, I don't think I found out until I was almost done with engineer school.

She's correct that no one (that I know of) tells you where you're going to be based prior to class. The difference between Eagle and almost everyone else is that Eagle doesn't tell you what aircraft you're going to be in until the first day of class. Most airlines tell you what plane you're coming to class for.
 
sorry to go off topic on my own thread but isnt skywest one of the blacklisted airlines because of no union or something?

Oh Lordy...have a clue, will yeah?

Skywest, union or not, is one of the better regionals. My hope is that they will soon orgainize, as it's best for all. But to say they are blacklisted cause they are non-union only gives credence to the moron who said it in the first place. I believe it was SmittyB. Hootie's remark at the thread was most appropriate.

3 things about Eagle.

1. You are "told" the very first day. Actually in the very first hour.

2. Eagle has no training contract. You can walk out after one hour or after 6 months if you are unhappy.

3. You are not "told" where and what. The class chooses by age. If you are older then you got a better chance of getting what you want. If you don't like your initial base then you can bid to relocate from day one.

I can't tell if you were being sarcastic with that comment or not but I'll let you know either way that I was only trying to help and clear up the common misconceptions about Eagle.

Dude, I wouldn't be sarcastic with him at all...you obviously had some misconceptions that made you look a little silly that could have cleared up by really reading the thread you referenced...he was just clearing things up, which it kinda seemed like you needed.
 
well I thought he was being sarcastic with me on his 1. which is why I responded with a half sarcastic response... but I did appreciate 2 and 3...
 
Pain. Well, at least there is such a thing as Cubs fans! Here in Arizona, we just have 'visiting NFL teams'.
