SkyWest will have huge biggest expansion ever in 2007

I wasn't being sarcastic when I said it was nice seeing ASA in lax. I'm glad something positive is happening over there. I"m not happy about your job being taken away like it has been. Theres enough flying out there for all of us.

I know you are on our side, I guess there was more sarcasm in my post.

Yesterday we were at the top of the alley at C6. Instructed to taxi to 25R behind Acey, as they passed us, both sides waved. Mutual respect between the two crews.

About 2 months ago, I had the opportunity to talk with an ASA guy. I was on a turn in my base in PSP, and the ASA flight from SLC had arrived and was waiting to go back. While walking to the restroom thru the ramp, I noticed the FO standing around. I walked over and shook his hand and introduced myself. I basically wanted him to know that there still is good people at SKYW that is trying to change things. There was no formal communication between the two groups as of yet. I welcomed him into my jumpseat any day of the week. Asked him to pass the word along.

so i'm around 600/150. i see that there's an open house near my city soon. should i bother going? i know i don't meet their min req, but would like to attend one of these open house for future reference and gain more knowledge about the company. but most of all, start a relationship with skw. good idea? bad?

I was going to be sarcastic in my response, and figured I'd stop...so, go to the job fair. Show interest in ANY company you're interested in. It can never hurt (unless you're an absolute pain in the rear). I feel most jobs are this way.

At the job fair I went to, one person showed up with only 400hrs, another did not even have a multi-engine rating. The company said to them thanks for showing interest, but... and were all shown the door.

So seriously, should I quit and go to skywest now? They just can't seem to lose. I'm definitely thinking about it.

Quote from another thread on RFP:

"
Re: Delta RFP Results

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Allow me to put some of your future curiousities to rest. You guys know my position on this whole thing, so by me saying don't hate the messenger....you get the point. SKYW will be receiving the majority of all the RFP flying. THE MAJORITY. This is not a guess.

"This is just the beginning, this will be the largest expansion in company history........it will make the United expansion years look like kids play"

Take it for what its worth to you."

We are set to have 25 jets delivered between now and Sept 1st. And the majority of the Delta stuff hasn't even been announced.

We will have 1 spare aircraft based in MKE. All aircraft will be painted in Midwest livery and will be dedicated to their system. We will have a maintenance base in MKE and we are evaluating a crew domicile there also. Midwest will do our ground handling. We will let you know schedule details etc. as we get more information.

DL Growth

February 05, 2007- 2 aircraft
March 10, 2007- 2 aircraft

March 1, 2007- 2 aircraft
April 1, 2007- 2 aircraft
May 1, 2007- 2 aircraft

An educated guess would be that CRJ CAPTAIN slots will go to people with less than one year seniority at the new base. Word is no one wants to go there. Skywest is still a west coast company, in that, most people are from the west coast. Take it for what its worth.

Re: Delta orders 60 -900's

MKE is close enough to ORD that it would be an easy drive. I'm guessing some ORD guys would transfer to MKE, making both bases very junior.

Nothing wrong with the midwest, friendliest people I've met.

Re: Delta orders 60 -900's

Only $50 for a recommendation - I know one company depending on performance where after the first year the referal bonus is anywhere between $2,500 and $10,000.

You guys still have mins on RJ CAs of 2500TT, right? At least, I think that's what I heard.

Re: Delta orders 60 -900's

Actually it's 2500 hrs for the RJ or the Bro...

2) Upgrade Training
a) The minimum requirements for a First Officer to be considered for upgrade training are:
(1) ATP written passed
(2) Current First Class Medical
(3) 2500 hours total fixed wing time
(4) 1000 hours total multi-engine time or equivalent
(5) 1000 hours total turbine time
(6) 1000 hours of Company flight time or equivalent
(7) Must not have any pending action on certificates from the FAA
(8) Must not be frozen in current position

Re: Delta orders 60 -900's

And for now you still have to have 1000/100 to become a first officer. Let's hope that doesn't change. :P

And by SKYW do you mean to include Skywest East? Or ASA as it is more commonly referred to?

That's some crystal ball you've got there. Mind posting (or PM'ing) a source?

My hats off to the ASA guys. In my own experience with the ASA (or SkyEast. . .Thanks Max) I have never seen anything but professional, friendly crew members. Always willing to say hi in the terminal. Flew home on an ACEY flight once, really nice crew, and had many friendly conversations on the employee bus.

Agree absolutely. They seem to be a really friendly group of people overall, and I have a ton of respect for them.
