I"m just curious... I always wear a hat when I go out, and since I cant wear a baseball cap while working (i doubt it lol) I was just curious if you guys wear your caps alot if at all... or if they look at a newhire diff if he wears his cap

I know its a silly question but something that just popped up in my mind lol

i dont wear mine. its optional at my company.

I have seen a few guys in the airline industry (not just my airline) that once they get in the cockpit out of the public view, they put on a ball cap.

Optional as well at my company. I don't wear it now, but I've been toying with the idea of getting one and wearing it again. We are having some issues with pilot appearance lately, so I'm thinking about getting the hat to help out with that.

IMO, our hat reduces the appearance. Looks like a skateboard ramp on your head it's so high up. There's one guy in MSP that's normally dusty, wears the cap and is of smaller stature. One of my classmates said if you put goggles on him, he'd look like Rommel.

That hat is required at my company. I don't wear it. I'd say about 50% of the guys do.

The problem I have with the hat (besides looking goofy on me) is that the whole uniform thing is based off of the military. You don't wear a hat inside in the military unless you are under arms (I believe). Where do pilots spend most of their time? Inside. Yeah. Sort of backwards.

Not that I care either way, but I was bored and curious...

scroll down to "covers"....they specifically list the terminal as a "hat-on" place...

LOL - awesome!!

I bet if airlines prohibited the wearing of uniform caps while at work, you wouldn't be able to get pilots to keep them off of their heads!!:p

I wear mine during the winter months with my long treachcoat. I don't mind it too much, except for nearly losing half the time :)

Speaking of losing hats.....Story time

My dad commuteed home on the 23rd and left his hat on the RON that I cleaned. He freaked about it looking for it the next day.... he got it on Christmas morning under the tree all wraped up. :D *evil son*

As for the question, Dad is required to wear it and he does.

Nice!

I would have done the same, as I'm sure my boys would do to me!:)
