There weren’t enough flight hours being put on that aircraft to justify keeping it around, and it was in for maintenance a lot
 
is the Cheyenne still around? I have never seen that thing fly, just saw it sit in the hangar a lot.

you say it like theres only one. we have two dozen on order from what i hear. and i know for fact 2 being built already, according to the guy (some VP or something) from Eclipse that came and spoke with one of my classes.

eeeeep, who do they think is going to fly them? STRE, SIEW, PALM and REGO are about the only ones remotely qualified to fly them much less teach in them?

We have a former NWA pilot here teaching in helicopters. He is going to be the one teaching in it.

I believe it is a 300 level course that is to be first offered in the summer. There was a meeting to see how much interest there was. That was mid november. At the meeting they wanted to try and have a class by spring semester. They didnt know yet if they were going to offer an orientation flight, a second in command, or a full type certificate. The latest I have heard though is that there will be a class offered in the summer.

sure about that (no sarcasm), any pure jet requires a type rating??

§ 61.31 Type rating requirements, additional training, and authorization requirements.

(a) Type ratings required. A person who acts as a pilot in command of any of the following aircraft must hold a type rating for that aircraft:
(1) Large aircraft (except lighter-than-air).
(2) Turbojet-powered airplanes.

Prob not, its not like the aircraft they are training to fly. Maybe in the future though, we shall see.

It sure does.
 
I think they are trying to work something out with point to point too, so that they can get some time in that thing. Its purpose is defiantly not flight training solely, UND is in it for the money.

i stand duly corrected. i was thinking of part 1 (over 12,500lbs)... forgot theres a part 2 to that.

call me a victim of the 'hype' around the light jets... blah blah single pilot this... blah blah... you know what im talking about. :-D

come on now, i openly admitted my mistake. besides, with all the hype the guy from eclipse was spouting when he came to talk to our class, youd think that the plane pays YOU to fly it, and only takes a sport pilot cert.

oh and it also has a perpetual motion machine generating its energy to fly.

im a victim of hype! i swear! :insane:
