I used to think women were bad about that...then I came here....not much difference between city boys and women i guess
I guess it's just that town guys have nothing to complain about since this is better than where they last came from, so it's perfectly understandable in that case.

Yuuup I have nothing better to do than bitch about this school! Takes 10 sec to state my opinion then move on with my activities. Isn't it that the quiet ones who enjoy this place have a boring lifestyle? Little too downtempo for me sorry.

I must also say the more livley upbeat people do complain since the surrounding lifestyle here is slower than what they are used to.

:yeahthat: Townies vs. City Boys :insane:

By the way I see the campus splitting up in two now. The angry sweatshirt wearing folks who look sexually frustrated, and the smiling dressed up people!

Hell yes, nothing but nice button down shirts for me the last few days. Speaking of which, where the hell does anyone buy clothes here. I usually get my clothes at home since its a much bigger city and there's more to choose from. There isn't a whole lot here. It's also like most of the shirts sold here were made for fat people. I made the unfortunate decision to buy a st. Johns Bay button down, which usually fit great, from JC Penny and it fit in the shoulders and was HUGE at the bottom, WTF??? I have a couple express shirts, but those get expensive when you need more than two. St. johns bay is usually pretty comparable. Not anymore I guess, well, at least not here. I'm pretty picky about how my clothes fit. Nothing sold here really does. Gawd, I sound like a limp wristed metro sexual. :insane: :D

You limp-wristed metro! hahaha.....jk..... I get my clothes at either home or Fargo. Whenever I'm home I act like I one a $10,000 shopping spree :D You'll be surprised about Express in Fargo. They always have sales. I got 3 pairs of Producer pants (black flat front dress pants with a subtle boot cut) for $10 each and a few beanies for $5 each (regular $25)... those pants are around $88-100...so when they are $10 each, grab as many as you can. They usually have those sales on pants in the spring.

Oh yeah, I doubt anyone can beat me $50 suit I got at Express - regular $298. It was the only one on the sale rack and it happened to be my exact size.

Sizes here at Penny's in GF are usually way oversized. Good luck finding Small size 28-32 Hanes or FTL underwear at Target... it's all 42 to 1,480 inch waist! Oh yeah... if you are poor and need a cheap suit for an interview, Target has some decent looking suits for $70 (they aren't the best quality, but they get the job done if you are on a tight budget).

actually I am from Las Vegas, so I am not a town guy.....I just think everybody needs to stop bitching about how it sucks here, or that the women look like ####ing cows, and that our degree is worth •. It gets old and well makes everyone who says the comments above, look weak and very immature. So i say deal with GFK and all of its crap or get the fudge out.

P.S. remember UND did not put a gun to your head to be here.

Give me a few thousand dollars to do it and have my start my training all over again (part 141) along with moving costs. But simply not feasable to just say "get out". It takes money to move and redo your training to another Part 141 school's "standards". But at this point it's not worth it to move...

I only have one more semester left after this, so I'm not complaining much anymore. There's light at the end of the tunnel!

I'm doing both and managing better than you or any of the locals could ever do in an environment they hate. In all honesty, I feel like I'm getting the most out of this place than you or any of the locals claim to be getting out of it. I still bitch. What I'm getting out of this dump town isn't enough. I hope that with all of my bitching, I will shed some light onto prospective students into not coming here.

Ahh geez. I dunno, if I was UND management, I'd be paying a lot more attention to what people are complaining about.

There are A LOT of choices in the collegiate aviation field and the attitude of suck it up or leave might get UND left in the dirt and starting a CAPT-style program to make ends meet in the aviation science department.

I agree, but the main thing that sucks about UND is the location. They have started up satellite schools, but with all of them you still need to come here for the final 2 years. I dont really have much of a beef with the school itself. Part 141 stuff gets more complicated than it really needs to be, but I would imagine that exists at any 141 school.

Oh I know. I went to ERAU and at the time I was there, I think I spent too much time figuring "Ok, we're trueing about 110, so 10% of that is 11 and add five to that, well that's 16 degrees for a standard rate turn" instead of just turning the damned airplane.

You couldn't believe my shock when I found that the Beech 1900 didn't have a turn coordinator... :)

College is about more than college. UND probably needs to hear it.

That's how I feel too. I'm getting the most out of this place - I do everything that I can to have fun. Angel can attest to this... I probably attend more cultural/non-UND/downtown events than the average UND student from this town. Any chance I get for a symphony, jazz concert, live music, an event where people actually dance more than drink, etc I soak up as much as possible.

I think this is important as well. Students are listening and other collegiate aviation are improving.

The satellite schools are an excellent idea. I think UND should partner up with some Phoenix-located state University. This would pose a huge threat to ERAU and allow people to consider this as a huge money saving option, with the quality of flight training being similar. Living in Phoenix will make more out of your college experience than an uncivilized location like Grand Forks. The Spokane location should consider this as well, or think about moving it to Portland or Seattle area.

College is about more than college. UND probably needs to hear it.

Very much agreed.

Speaking of sweats, this girl next to me is wearing the complete sweats attire - sweatpants and sweatshirt. She smells like she hasn't washed them for 2 weeks....smells of a combination of perfume and BO. EEEEEWWW!!!!
