Amount of Clothing/Checking bags for non-revving to class date...

What I do is get Chipotle, bring it home and crack open a can of Herdez salsa on it. Nirvana.

Sounds like a plan! By that time, I might have a burrito-for-walk-in policy..gGet me guac and my LOR won't be written on napkins.
 
Andy idea how many in the class? I've heard they are ramping up classes again. According to the membership guy they are going to do a few a month.

No clue - last class was October 16th though, and I have an email in to a new-hire in that group asking for numbers. I'll let you know as soon as I do. I only know one other person in my class... another guy turned down the job for an ATC slot in Chicago.

From 9/4 to 10/9, 21 people left, with 17 of them being captains. Will it continue? I kinda hope so for the next 8 months or so!! (I'm around 140 from upgrade) ;). But at least it shows attrition hasn't slowed down. The cool part is people are actually leaving for the...wait for it....majors. Yay.

I am so psyched. I just hope the first two weeks aren't brutal (are they?).

I don't know who is teaching the classes anymore. Both the indoc and systems guys took other positions (one is a domicile manager, the other went back to the line).
 
Wow, thanks C150J for asking all the questions that I was thinking!

I was planning on trying to stuff everything for groundschool into a carry-on, and then have my other bag carry-on be my laptop bag....but it sounds like I should actually bring what I need, and not wear the same underwear three days in a row.


Doug, how is positive space on Delta? They let you check bags? Is that dumb?


GaTechKid, does the Candlewood have laundry? Are you positive spacing home on the weekends? And are you checking bags? What are most people using to lug their books to class?

The Candlewood has laundry facilities and a small store with food/toiletry items that you can find at a gas station. It's an extended stay hotel so there's a small kitchen in every room with a fridge, microwave, stove, and dishwasher. 2 grocery shuttle runs per week and once per week the hotel provides pizza/soda for dinner. There's a couple rooms for Skywest on the third floor with computers, a fax machine, copier, a Bro paper tiger, and a RJ paper tiger.

Everyone either uses their flight case or backpack to tote all the books back and forth. I use a backpack since I had to buy another flight case. Don't buy the US Luggage catalog case with wheels. It fit in the Saab but doesn't fit in the CRJ. When traveling to class I checked my bags.

SKW doesn't officially positive space new-hires home on the weekends. Check your PMs.
 
C150---The first two weeks aren't BRUTAL---just read as much as you can in the FOM every night in your awesome La Quinta :) Systems is where it gets tough!

Wheels... I believe I heard (when I was on my way out of training about two weeks ago) they had a class of 8, 10, and 8 scheduled. Pretty fat on FO's right now too--talked to a guy in DC the other day on reserve and he flew 3 hours last month a DCA/PHL turn, and a DCA-CLT (deadhead to DCA) leg.

Fat on FO's??? Tell me about it. I went to Long Call this month because I didn't want to work and it's workin' out for me pretty nicely. I go into my last 4 days of call out with 20 days off in a row.

I think they are expecting to get the Midwest flying with all the classes they are running. This is good for the guys that are in training now or on the line as they will get some people below them but if the additional flying doesn't happen it could SUCK for the guys getting on now (sorry 150 :)) because they will stop classes to allow for attrition to pick up the slack. The same thing happened back in Feb/March time frame - they were hoping UAL would sign on for the 146's again but when they didn't the classes came to a halt. :(
 
Hello again!

Just a quick follow-up regarding business casual shirts... what do you consider appropriate? Polos? Long-sleeve button-downs? The only guidance I have is "shirts with collars."

Either would be business casual. This time of year in the great white North, I'd wear long sleeve button-downs.
