Re: how can you possibly live on a pilot\'s starting salary??????
Ah, you have much to learn young grasshopper. Obviously, you're not a CFI, so have never taken/passed the Fundamentals of Instructing (FOI) for the FAA. One of the key/critical characteristics of a flight instructor (SADLASS acronym) is to always keep learning and bettering one's self to attain a wider experience base. This means adding ratings, endorsements (tail wheel, high power, etc) and NOT simply stagnating at the private/instrument level like so many do. Plus, with the commercial rating, it's nice to take people flying and be legal to charge them for it. :nana2:
So why be a lazy arse and stop there? Also, not exactly a 100% true statement, either. There are those of us who were strictly military and held no FAA issued ratings as a designated military aviator. Then made the transition and converted it all at once. Went from zero FAA through Commercial Multi-Engine in a matter of days. Hooah!
No, I dont hold a Comm (yet that is), and hense havent passed a 121 or 135 PC.
I believe I have begun the path of life flying without the Comm, and it is making me a better pilot. There are some of us here that can bring alot to the discussions and we dont have the 121 or 135 job.
Remember all of you were just PPL at one time!
