how can you possibly live on a pilot's starting salary??????

Re: how can you possibly live on a pilot\'s starting salary??????

No, I dont hold a Comm (yet that is), and hense havent passed a 121 or 135 PC.

I believe I have begun the path of life flying without the Comm, and it is making me a better pilot. There are some of us here that can bring alot to the discussions and we dont have the 121 or 135 job.

Remember all of you were just PPL at one time!

Ah, you have much to learn young grasshopper. Obviously, you're not a CFI, so have never taken/passed the Fundamentals of Instructing (FOI) for the FAA. One of the key/critical characteristics of a flight instructor (SADLASS acronym) is to always keep learning and bettering one's self to attain a wider experience base. This means adding ratings, endorsements (tail wheel, high power, etc) and NOT simply stagnating at the private/instrument level like so many do. Plus, with the commercial rating, it's nice to take people flying and be legal to charge them for it. :nana2:

So why be a lazy arse and stop there? Also, not exactly a 100% true statement, either. There are those of us who were strictly military and held no FAA issued ratings as a designated military aviator. Then made the transition and converted it all at once. Went from zero FAA through Commercial Multi-Engine in a matter of days. Hooah!

Any you are a what????

No, I am not a CFI. LOL, not young either..... I continue to learn, just that somepeople have here lately continue to put down those just starting out. Yes, I have been flying for over 7 years now, how about you? .. No, I am not rushing to continue to slide down in this industry. I am working on my COMM as I can....you see, I have a life outside flying also, like a family and 2 kids. Is this where I can say that I have learned more then SOME CFI's in the 7 years I have been flying compared to those CFI's with only 2 years (or less) under their belts....

This is (or I thought) a place that discussions can be made in an open forum, or did I miss that somewhere.

And this makes you a better pilot then me.....how???? Remember, the COMM CHECKRIDE IS A JOKE, or I have so heard.

Yes it does. More ratings equates to more exposure, scenarios/situations, flight time, etc. Ever heard, "practice makes perfect?" Are you really that obtuse as to not make that connection for yourself? You really cannot see how (IN general) a 1000+hr CFI/II is more experienced and therefore competent than a 60 hr private stooge? :insane: I know we all have to start somewhere, but ya really need to recognize the limitations at such a limited stage.

That last part right there qualifies you for a free ticket to the Romper Room and congrats, dude... You've won the motard third grade post of the month award.

Re: how can you possibly live on a pilot\'s starting salary??????

I see the military flying did you so good, you ended up at DCA..... I heard JetU is looking for people.

Look who won the award now!!!

When you grow up maybe we can have a REAL discussion.

Hey, I like how you went back and added more then just the "Yes it does"... Did I say anything about a 60hr pilot????? Did I say anything about a 2yr PPL getting their CFI?????

I wanted the CFI/II FAA ratings, jacktard...and I was only 15 min away and part 141 AND approved by the VA for GI Bill benefits. I also needed fixed wing time as I flew helicopters predominantely...

Re: how can you possibly live on a pilot\'s starting salary??????

Worst idea I have heard in a while. Why would you want a job that pays the same thing year after year and years after loyal service! There would be a massive strike if this took place lol! And it takes the excitement out of bid periods and each one year anniversary with the company.

Well of course your pay would be adjusted each year for cost of living (I forgot to mention that part in my post) And as I already said, pay would be based on equipment and position.

i.e. All Captains on a given equipment would make "X" per hour, while First Officers would make .6X (I think that is the going rate). The next year, X would be adjusted for cost of living (X*1.03%), and so effectively everyone would get a 3% raise.

Pay would also be increased if you moved on to bigger/faster equipment

Glad your life is so stagnant that you're afforded so much time with your prolific and insightful posts... :sarcasm:

Me? I'll just enjoy my great pay and lifestyle as I have the time to <edit> as I await a flight in another test production aircraft... Oh, the humanity...

Complex has been a member since April 2005.

Perhaps once you have been here for over a year and a half, then one of us will remind you how much spare time you have spent here. :insane:

I was referring to the fact that you're bickering like 7 year old girls. But by saying "7 year old girls" I've turned on like 3 or 4 JC members, thus I tried to avoid it.

Look what you have caused.

Touche'! However, I highly doubt I'd average over 70 posts/month based on complex being here roughly 18 months and having 1261 posts... Although, I can see how this thread might seem to indicate otherwise...

Yeah, I'd put that on the Hindenberg level of human crisis... Giggity, giggity...
