Good Start on 2...

Congratulations! Wow, you certainly are a Mainer at heart. Rangeley is a beautiful part of Maine... I'm sure it fits your daughter perfectly.
Bonus points to deskjockey!! :)

That's exactly where the name comes from! My wife and I simply love the lakes region of Maine... we have so many fond memories of the lake and camps on Westshore Rangeley.

The loons calling in the early morning hours... The crystal clear cool water... Sitting in a hammock with my wife until 2am just watching the stars over the lake... Sitting in the hammock in the winter at 2pm just watching the quiet snow fall on the frozen lake... Awesome snowshoeing in the winter... Eating at the "Porter House" in Eustis... Watching the deer and moose walk right by our camps in the winter... Hiking, boating, fishing, and of course the scenery.... Saddleback, Mooselookmeguntic, etc... Simply wonderful.

Our first daughter was born in Maine... and we wanted our second daughter to have a connection to it as well. We had been discussing the name "Rangeley" for quite a while... But... one day two months ago, I had my Maine Atlas & Gazateer out, and I'm looking at Rangeley Lake and the surrounding area... As I look a little closer at the town of Rangeley situated on the northeast part of the lake... I see a feeder pond (Mainers call lakes "Ponds".) that flows into Rangeley Lake on the east part of town... The name of that Pond is called "Haley" Pond. Well... Guess what my first daughter's name is? Haley!

That was the clincher right there. It felt "real" and like it was meant to be... After she was born... it just "fit".

CONGRATS!!!!

Best wishes to your family. How much time do you get off now?
Complex,

I had one week of vacation that I was able to bid into over three weeks off. So... I don't have to be back to work until October 6th. Pretty cool eh!

Anyway... I'll be bidding down to a reduced schedule as much as practical to be home with the baby. My wife is taking the full 12 weeks off and when she goes back to work in December then I'll be taking my FMLA of 12 weeks off... Only I'll be doing it like 1 month off, 1 week on, 1 month off, 1 week on, 1 month off... so I don't dequal.

The goal is to get it stretched to the summer where we don't need daycare because then my wifes' mom is a school nurse and has the summer off and can take care of her... So we're looking at about a year before we have a "daycare" need for her. That's the goal anyway... But we'll see how it works out.

Good on ya and the wife, Bob. Congratulations.

Your daughters are red-headed and blonde. When they start dating, you are going to be one nervous wreck of a Dad....

Congrats Bob! You had better get that story about the lake in Maine, the big sister, wanting Rangeley to have a connection etc. all typed up so she can start studying it when she can read. She's gonna be telling that story evey August when the teacher says, "RANGE ELIE? How do you pronounce that? Ohh, where is that name from?" :)

Congrats on a healthy baby!

Congrats on the new baby!!

I have to say I do like the way Express does there vacation, my GF does back after her 18day (1 week) vacation.

DING-DONG

BOB: "Hi there, Stevie, you must be here to take my daughter out tonight."
STEVIE: "Yessir. Pleasure to meet you, sir."
BOB: "Stevie, you seem like a fine boy. Have her home by ten."
STEVIE: "Yessir. I will do that."
BOB: "Good, good. Listen, Stevie...come closer...you ever seen what .357 can do to a watermelon? I've got a speedloader for it, too...that means that even if the watermelon runs away I can still probably get a few more rounds off."
STEVIE: "Understood. Home no later than eight."
BOB: "Attaboy, Stevie."

I had one guy whip out a knife with a 12 inch blade and start cleaning his fingernails. I actually laughed pretty hard about that one...later.lol

I'm just now seeing this!

Congrats on the new arrival :)

As for company leave, it's pretty much everybody's opinion that if a baby is arriving, Daddy is going HOME and the company can deal with it :) Bill's chief pilot in CVG was really great with our second's unexpectedly early arrival too.

Congratulations... Bob

MikeD, I think I need an automatic because I have 4 daughters. Any recommendations? :insane:

Congratulations!! Sounds like a job well done to mom and a beautiful little girl for you both. I just found out a week ago that my wife is pregnant with our number 2.

Congrats man, I wish you all the best. She was born 10 days earlier than me, I am Sep. 23-rd. One of my friend's is also Sep 13-th.
