With the terrorists of 9/11 going to flight school in the USA, I was wondering if anyone was at any of the schools at the same time, though Im not sure what schools they were at.. I believe az flight works at scottsdale airport, pan am in minnesota, and other flight schools in flordia.
 
I know of one school in AZ that frequently takes Arab and Mexican students to the control tower...

And can you really differentiate between arab and different middle eastern races? Same for mexican - use better wording, it can be offensive...

I'm often mistaken for mexican. And hawaiian too. Dumbo a-rabs give us a bad name (though the current regime in Tehran isn't doing so hot either,lol)

You what's uncool.....the fact that all these other races get to have so many ethnic slurs, and you and I only get a few attributed to our race.

lol. No, thats cool. No need to stfu at all; its all good. You're right, I am poking fun at my own background (Iranian).....because it's easy, unfortunately. Frank, open discussion that can be kept lively is what's truly needed in order to promote "diversity", IMHO. Hence why I can make fun of the ethnic slurs statement (that was actually on an episode of Dennis Leary's "Rescue Me" TV show, and they really get into it with many races making fun of themselves as well as each other during one of those BS "sensitivity training" courses.....was funny to watch the equal opportunity bashing).

But I still do get mixed up for mexican/hispanic, or polynesian often. Sort of amusing, actually. :D
 
Good deal. I figured that was what you were doing, but I get sick of the ignorant dumbbats that think all middle eastern'ers or even southern asian individuals are Aaa-rabs.

thats funny because n422nm is part mexican, and i am part syrian and lebanese.. and we went to the tower with our cfi groundschool instructor who is morman...

When I was in Hawaii taking our 117s through there both times, I'd get it from even some of the locals. One of the line crew (civilian)..."hey braa! Nice to see one of the brudda's flying jets!"

For some reason, when I was descending down on visual base-leg for 8L at PHNL/PHIK, and looking down as some of the beaches and surf, all I could think of was Robert Duvall saying "......that's good son, because you either surf or fight!"

lol.
 
I've flown with a large variety of 'surf dogs' when I was based in MCO.

Whenever I see one of them in the terminal, I'm like "Hey Scar! How's it goin?"

"Eight foot swells, bra, might have to sick out next trip..." :)
 
Honest question. But what are the differences if any between arabs and Persians?

Most Persian's are muslims right,and most arabs are also. I know that there was a huge empire called Persia,hense where Persian's come from. Are Persian's not semetic like arabs?

Are they a totally different race or cousins to arabs? Lastly...Persians seem to share the fight with Arabs when it comes to the US & Isreal. I.E. Iran's involvement/funding of Hezbola.

Since i dont have time to answer everything, i'll quickly say that there are also alot of christian arabs and persians.
 
Here's a Persian question for you. Is modern-day Iran more or less the same geography as yesterday's Persia?
 
Can you tell the difference between a Korean, Chinese, or Japanese? I can but to most people I am either Chinese or Asian. Are they insensitive or bigots? No most just don't have a reason why they should know the difference.

All most people know is there were a bunch of middle eastern men that hijacked a bunch of planes. That's what they are concerned about.

Well lets see, different cultures and races have differences. Some others may not like or are proud. You're right, they dont know why they should know the difference, and all that shows is ignorance. Unless you know for sure someone is a certain race, dont say anything.

Now, if you want to get all into it, i go to a school where 60% of students are asian. So yes, my friends and everyone else is asian. I have learned the differences in terms of look and can 99.9% determine what ethnicity they are. Of course, those that are mixed throw me up - i can usually get the one half. Always have hard time on other.

I dont know, my point is, race is nonsense anyways. In the end of the day, we're all people - plain and simple irregardless of our color, language, or race. People always seem to forget this...

Ethnically, many (if not most) Persians/Iranians are Aryan.

Strictly speaking, Arabs are ethnically descended from areas around the Arabian Peninsula. Two different races.

See above. I know you're not making this mistake, but it absolutely amazes me how many Americans think that 'Muslim' is an ethnic designation rather than a designee of a particular faith, which is Islam.

Ideological battle, not ethnic. That's a gross oversimplification, but answers the question.
