Cleveland Center Ahole!

Just happened an hour ago:

So I'm on my way to KPIT and talking to Cleveland. We were given holding instructions at EARED intersection at 14K. Ok, no problem, we can do that. Then, about 2 minutes goes by and a controller change had occured (was no longer a female voice on the radio.....;)....yep, I've got great powers of deduction, but that's a topic for another thread :sarcasm:) and we were given the same holding clearance but at a different altitude, now 8K. So, before commencing the descent, I called to clarify the altitude change and the controller got a serious attitude w/ me. He basically said don't worry about what the previous clearance was, I just gave you X clearance.

Woooaaa, big fella....... So I called him back and said there was no reason to have an attitude, I just wanted to have clarification. What a d!ck. He continued to give me a hard time....... I was trying to CYA and be proactive not wanting the "phone number" for screwing up and all I get is grief.

/rant....I feel better now :)
 
You could always ask them for the number of their supervisor. Tends to end the problem either way.
 
Hehe. Reminds me of some German controllers I have heard. Enroute to Frankfurt, they were notorious for sending us to Rudesheim(Sp?) for a long hold. Sometimes, the pilots would try to say they did not have the fuel for a long hold. The controllers got wise, and on more than one occasion, I heard “Reach XXXX, state your fuel, and do not lie”, before the hold. ;)

Yes, I know :) .......wasn't actually complaining "TO" a controller via the forums. Perhaps this would have been more appropriate a thread title "Why was the Clev Center Controller such an Ahole?":sarcasm:..jk

As it is, feel free to move this to General or the Lav if you think it's more appropriate in either of those. For that matter, you can go ahead and delete the entire thread......just wanted to vent since this guy was such an %#$@#$. I'm better now. :D

Bottom line is: Didn't think my request to confirm was inappropriate and it certainly didn't warrent the response I got!
 
I've dealt with some controllers with a stick up their butt and I'm sure they've dealt with pilots that are the same way! :)

Take care of business, confirm all you want, after all you're ultimately responsible! :)

EXACTLY!.......It's my (and every other pilot's) ticket on the line, all the time! Have you got a pen ready....take down this number and give 'em a call when you land....D'oh!
 
But never EVER argue on the radio because it's already recorded and at that point you've lost by default :(. I mean by the time you figure the time, telephone calls and the hassle...
