Dear Tracy -
Here's some exciting news about some of our recent graduates. Let your friends know that ATP has the best placement record out of any flight academy this year!
Airline Transport Professionals (ATP)
JACKSONVILLE, Florida-August 30, 2006
On Wednesday, August 30th, Pinnacle Airlines' Chief Pilot, HR Representatives, and members of a Captains' Board interviewed 11 pilot applicants on-site at ATP's headquarters in Jacksonville Beach, Florida. Out of these 11 applicants, Pinnacle hired 8 First Officers who will start their training with Pinnacle in mid-September.

This is the second time Pinnacle has conducted interviews on-site with ATP. Pinnacle continues to be pleased with the level of technical proficiency and interpersonal skills demonstrated by ATP graduates. This year alone, ATP has assisted 78 pilots in achieving their career goals—this is more than any other flight school or academy.
If you have any questions, or would like to find out more about ATP's classes and start dates, feel free to contact me.
Sincerely,
James

I wonder how ATP knows that they've got the best placement record of any flight academy? I'm guessing they haven't got access to the personnel records of every flight flight school in the world...

I'm still trying to figure out how I am on their email listing.

I wonder why I don't get any of these e-mails, and I went to ATP:confused: I bet most of these guys had between 500-700 hrs?!

hmm.. .well I am starting on September 11th so I will figure out whats up. I am not an ATP person but did get hired with 925/240- about half being instruction.

i heard 1 guy only had 260 hours TT. I hope it aint true.
Doubtful Brian... at least based on the information on the website.

Everyone one of those guys instructed for some period of time with the exception of the Transition guy. He would have had to have a minimum of 350 prior to that program. So he had the possibility of being the lowest time guy with @ 500 hours.

Congrats!

This is everything you need to know about Vladimir Lenin.

Eight people he doesn't know and has never even met are tools based on the fact that they passed an interview at a regional airline.

One of them was my roomate. For those that were curious about hours, I think the last I talked to him he had about 600/200, so there's on example for ya.

Would I pay for the Regional Jet Standards Certification Course? No way -- but that's me. If it was free I guess I would, but otherwise of course not. To each his own.

Why is it when you train at an FBO and get hired at a regional, you just got a job. But you go to ATP and get hired at a regional, you were "placed".

Sounds like marketing fluff to me....

For what its worth.... In the airport the other day on my way home from training with Air Wisconsin I met a new hire at PCL. A whopping 322 hours total time, 116 multi. His goal: "To get 121 experience, a CL-65 type and go to Air Wisconsin" To which I replied... "Good luck"

Just goes to show not only a lack of industry knowlege, but also bad ethics.

Most likely because of the letter or agreement that PCL has with ATP. http://www.atpflightschool.com/images-new/airline_alliances/Pinnacle_Alliance.gif

Joe's FBO doesn't have that sort of thing... and if they did... then I'm guessing they too would be all over the marketing aspect as well.

Did they say how they got to PCL with only the 322/116?

Well, Fluffy...

Joe's FBO is more interested in turning out good pilots/CFI's that can build time and get a job anywhere rather than having a need to be "placed" as part of a marketing scheme.

The whole concept of flight schools using "marketing agreements", like this email talks about, to suck people in, still leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Nothing new here, really. Back in my day we worked our way up and got jobs based on our experience and background, not a "placement" scheme. That it doesn't work that way anymore, with your Gulfstreams, Direct tracks, Jet U's, and whatever ATP calls it, really saddens me.

If these guys were CFI's with decent backgrounds, then more power to them. They didn't need to be "placed" to move on.

Maybe this is all semantics but it still looks like fluff to me.

"My money is on NO. Sounds like an intern"

Is that part of the ATP program? Didn't know they had interns, too?

Just asking a question...
