I have been interested to see how many hours & experience level ya'll have. Lets see if can if we can get to a million total flight hours.

Here are the rules. Well they are more like guidelines.
1. Been flying since (1/1/1974, July 1985)
2. List the planes you have flown. (172, 150, DC-9)
3. List your ratings. (MEI, CFII, ATP,...)
4. List your total time. (2500 TT, 1000 PIC)
4a. Bonus - List your aviation goals (RJ, Majors - UPS or Fed Ex)
5. Add you total time to the post before. Make sure to put in the computation and then put the result in red.
6. Only post your time once.

Here's mine.

How many hours till you solo, though???:pirate:

Seriously, have you kept up with how many hours you have approximately? Just curious...

Yeah, I still maintain my logbook with my mil and civilian time. Am completing my 3rd one. As of last check, around 5800 TT. Would have to look into it to get the exacts and breakdown.

Cool...glad to hear you're not one of those that "just logs to keep current" or "stopped keeping track after 4000TT", or some of the other things I hear. Mine were very approximate since my logbook is about 2 months behind, and I didn't bring my book with me.:o

I log everything, and log conservatively. By that, I mean, I try to be as accurate as I can. For example, if I'm flying a day/night mission with WX, I make an effort to accurately log the TT (easy), night time, time in actual WX, NVG time, etc; rather than just log a "majority" or all of the flight with one or more of the items.

One thing I have stopped logging for a long time is simulator time. Sort of a waste of space, IMHO, for where I am; especially when the sim is not used for any sort of formal currency or qualification. The last sim I flew prior to where I am now was in UPT in the T-38s, and I logged those. But when I got to the A-10, at the time I was there, there was no simulator for the jet, as it had been retired in the 90s (though they have one now).

I'm pretty much the same way. I use the trip sheets, with sunset/sunrise times if appropriate (M-F on my run there is no need...2145 until 0400) for any daytime flying I do (it's not much daytime flying), try to be accurate with time in actual wx. I would actually short myself in this job if I used the 10% rule or whatever it is for actual wx time since there are times the only time I see anything other than inside clouds is when lifting off and at DH and below.

As far as sim time, I haven't logged it since college. I don't think Frasca time is going to help me any more, and if anybody really needs to know my time in the Caravan sim, I have the paperwork for it.

Reminds me of how I did it back in my freight days.

How fun that would be now, seriously. Things really do "come back around" in aviation. Low workload (comparitively) compared to now. On my oww, etc. Miss that stuff sometimes, especially when I fly over my old stomping grounds that I used to deliver to.

Almost everybody I talk to that has done it has very fond memories of it, and I am taking some good advice I received a while back...enjoy every moment, since it's the best flying you'll do, last time you won't have to shave, and last time you won't have to be on autopilot most of the time. I'm having a blast and will have some good memories!!!
