Aircraft is still the target. Had these nut jobs wanted to blow up civilians here they would have done it already. There is intelligence! Thats why this thing is news this morning, but Intel can be wrong or there could be nut jobs still out there, so better to be safe than sorry.

Airport checkpoint security was the ONLY link in the entire chain that DID NOT fail on 9/11. The bad guys were let through with items that were APPROVED at the time.

The FAILURES of 9/11 were : FBI, Immigration, Local Flight Schools (to a point), and the Airlines themselves at the ticket counter.

SECURITY (checkpoint) WAS NEVER BRERACHED ON 9/11!!

So what do we do? We change the only part of the system that actually "worked" and leave the other major problems completely alone or throw superficial "fixes" at them.

And..... it could also be a "smoke screen" to cover some other plot. We don't know that.

Personally, I would be more concerned about some kind of dirty bomb or bio-chemical threat than that of another airliner attack.

Offline jumpseaters don't need a 'security pass'. Who told you that and why are you doing that??? That is a significant waste of time.

The only time we need a 'security pass' is if our airline doesn't serve that airport. It has nothing to do with being offline.

In response to your first point about 'working crewmembers', we have been instructed to tell our domcilie managers the place and time we had difficulties with TSA and there are chains of command that will be used to 'fix' the problem screeners. FYI.

That's the reason people keep flopping over and taking it from the man.

Because of naive individuals in this country we will continue to see our civil liberties and rights constricted. I'm sure when the Patriot Act comes back up for renewal you will see something banning ANY liquid from airport properties.

Just admit this is a knee-jerk reaction, due to their own failings of intelligence. If we had know about this, do you think they would react so out of character? Smoke and mirrors middle America. You guys put this guy in office, now ALL of us have to deal with his (and team's) stupid lack of intelligence and knee-jerk reactions.

I keep telling myself 2 more years. . . 2 more years. Hell, 3 more months. . . new congress, and finally some oversight.

Again ... where was the action to head off this kind of plot months, weeks .. hell even days BEFORE the supposed plot. Waiting to hours AFTER sure seems like someone got caught with their pants down to me! Which REALLY instills a lot of faith in our "intellegence" community.
 
Last time I checked this is still a free country and a great one to live in, but I must be wrong. Whats the matter you cant handle alittle inconvenience every once in a while? Oh you poor american.

Intel is not about getting fast arrests. Its about information, get all the info you can and string them out for all that they will provide you.

Did you read my post? This respoinse is apples and oranges...

If we "knew" this was a problem as has been claimed why did we wait til lAFTER a supposed plot happens to do anything (procedural changes) to circumvent it?

Ok well you seem to know how to fix the problem so please tell us. You just make a big deal out of this cause you don't like the president, typical lefty, go against whatever the conservitives do for no other reason than thats just what they do.

that's the loophole i'm talking about....it's just easy as pie to just stick them right into your checked luggage! altho checked luggage is screened which might prevent someone from trying it but still....

We have foiled many plots since 9/11 on a smaller scale. Im sure US intel was present in London and had a lot to do with foiling this plot. I am okay with doing what they tell me to do. No water? No problem Ill buy another or wait until I get on the plane. No toothpaste? Buy more. These are very minor inconveniences and so far it has worked.

I agree, focus on the issues at hand. But don't insult me by telling me I'm a poor American.

By April of next year I will have provided 4 years of my life for this country. Unfortunately it doesnt appear that it did any good. Our constitution continues to get urinated on, and we continue to fight a fake war in Iraq.

So now that our own government has failed us, again, they have a knee-jerk reaction because they don't know WHO could possibly do the acts that were twarted in the UK.
