SLC Blows!

Can I have my turboprop back? I want to do MSN turns all day!

Flow delays suck.

You actually get to see more lower and slower.

37,000 feet over Iowa is pretty exciting, ain't it?

Like clockwork:

Cruise flight...

35,000 feet...

80 miles south of the "Very Large Array" in New Mexico:

*ching* *ching* (the cabin interphone chime)

"Engine room..."

"A couple of passengers are wondering where we are"

"Uhh, no where!"

"No really"

"Do you see anything outside?"

"No."

"See! Nowhere! :)"

"I saw the captain I'm doing the trip with and we're already haggling about who's going to do what!"

Like what? Mean like food runs through the terminal? Sorry, I'm just a freight dawg.

"You're working the radios"

"No YOU are!"

"Fine, but you're doing the walk around..."

"Not if it's over 80!"

Good natured ribbing is all.

A little badge of honor that a lot of us SLC'ers have is "I haven't been thru ATL in two years, anything change?" :)

Doug remember those hot humid days you had when flying the -88 out of ATL. Well they are here again but lucky for me I work in a nice comfy a/c controlled room and a comfy leather chair. I do not miss the ramp and the heat. The heat index here today was suppose to be over 100 again

Ahh yes, summer in the -88 and a new captain.

"Hey, uhh, these brakes are known to chatter a bit when it's warm outside"

(hint to slow down a bit approaching the gate)

GA GA! GAHGAHGAHGAHGAHAGHAGHAHGAHGA

"Dagummit! Thing won't stop!"

GAGAGAGAGAGAGAGAGA!

Parenthetical thought bubble above my head: "S'actly"

Anyone know why the shut the flow down into SLC yesterday from all gates? We were in the ground in EKO and they gave us a release. I didn't switch to CTAF quickly and we get called to see if we left. The Center Controller told us they shut everything in SLC, all gates. Hmmm? He didn't know why. After we finally left, and after packing a ton more fuel for the just in case in happens while we're in the air again, we hear it was because something went down with Approach Control. We didn't hear what. Shades of the Palmdale sector going down though.

Yea something happened in SLC yesterday. My friend who lives in SLC visits his bf every other weekend here in PHX. His bf works for AWA/US Airways.

Anyways he told me that he got a scenic tour of the airport. They taxi'd to 16L and held for 20 mins. then taxi'd 34R. Sat for 15 mins. then taxi'd to 34L and waited about an hour in the "box". Then waited 25 more mins. after the plane in front of them took off and finally they got airborne!

Crazy times. But know I know why.

huh, well that can be just switching runways but an hour in in the box is wierd. It sounds like they at least had enough fuel to do all that. Good on the Capt, it sure wasn't dispatch

when I do a pairing that takes me thru LGA and PHL in the same day I can literally hear the cash registers ringing.

Very true, I love going there to make the money BUT we don't have the luxury of an aircart or APU.

On Thursday I was standing outside on the hot ramp in my uniform acting as 'marshaller' to allow us to run an engine with PAX aboard to get them some cool air for about 30 minutes.

I was NOT a happy camper.

what would you rather have...a 12 month upgrade or an APU? I'd take the 12 month upgrade knowing what I know now! ;)

I'll take the quick upgrade :)

Where you there yesterday (Friday)? The AC wasn't on in the terminal building.

I'm getting to the point where I hate overs. There, I said it. I hate them. You know what I like? Settling into my seat to commute home, looking down at my watch saying, "Wow, we should be blocking in right now!" because we were that early. Happened a few times, and it feels nice to be getting paid to not work. Save some gas, get home early, and profit sharing... 'cha ching!'
