Alaska Airlines FC Meals?

ZapBrannigan

If it ain’t a Boeing, I’m not going. No choice.
Wife and I are headed to San Diego in a couple weeks and bought tickets on Alaska.
We have to pick meals on the website ahead of time. The flight is between mealtimes, so ordinarily I’d go for the cheese tray and simply marvel about how it is possible to get fresh food on a 737 as opposed to pistachios and onion pretzels.

But I’m intrigued by some of the other choices. Tilamook burger? Barbecue baked potato? Enchiladas? Apricot salad? They all sound good. So what’s the best first class meal on Alaska (domestic) these days?

Last time I ordered the burger they plane swapped and everyone got the turkey sandwich instead. Mom had their enchiladas on one of her flights and said it was good, she had some kind of salad on the return and wasn't impressed. Hell, their fruit and cheese tray is big enough for two, to be honest. That reminds me, we're riding Alaska to Kona in a few weeks in premium economy and I need to set reminders in my phone when it's time to order our food. Alaska's buy on board is really good but the amount of trash it leaves behind is another matter. I can't believe how much is left over after a flight from Phoenix to Seattle. I don't wanna think about how much will be crammed back there from San Diego to Kona!

Oh and don't forget to bring your own water. Unless you like weird metallicy tasting water, then you're gonna love their boxed stuff.

People seem to … not dislike that Tillamookie burger, but I have never seen a photo of one that didn't look like it just got visited by a "collections agent" for a bookie. Handled with hate and no green to be found.
For a premade burger heated up in an easy bake oven it’s not bad. Where it becomes a meme among the pilot group is its ubiquity as one of the two options for crew meals on any leg between about 10 AM and 5 PM.

Also the lettuce and tomato are served on the side for the eater to add or not as they desire maybe that’s the lack of green?

Chicken enchiladas my favorite in that list.

I believe the BBQ potato is a pork dish.

I'd go with this (enchiladas) too. It is the only dinner meal I enjoy on the menu/crew meal rotation. The BBQ pulled pork potato is ok if you like BBQ sauce and loaded potatoes, neither of which are really my jam. The cheeseburger is fine I guess, but I'm not a huge burger guy.

I’m the only weirdo I’ve met who actually likes the pesto chicken pasta.

That's sort of fine. The chicken can be really hit or miss, but I'll at least eat the pasta. We have had better pasta offerings in the past though. I'm not sure if this is on the FC menu or just crew meals, but the brisket breakfast hash is actually not bad, and none of those things are normally things I like.

I recently had 2 First class flights on Alaska. The first flight I got the eggs and potatoes for breakfast. The second. They only offered me the tillamook burger. There was nothing else the FA said… But since I only bought the first class ticket the same day I flew maybe I just missed the option to choose my meal I guess? I wasn’t interested in a burger so I just declined and munched on the snacks the provided after the meal.
