Return of ALPA dues

Is there a published formula of what percentage of dues are being returned?

Do different pilot groups get different percentances returned?

I received $950 last year for return of 2024 dues. And $980 in 2024 for return of 2023 dues.

But this year for 2025 I am going to get $108 for 2025 dues. I didn’t pay very much - my last Spirit paystub reports $5400 in dues paid to ALPA in 2025. So I am getting 1.9% back.

I guess that’s better than nothing.

I was kind of expecting something similar to what we got returned in 2023 and 2024.

Just wondering what percentage other spirit pilots got back.

Maybe something with our pilot group getting dissolved means we’re not getting as much of our dues back compared to other pilot groups that still exist.

My ALPA National return for both 2025 and 2024 dues years was close to 14% for both. I do wonder if Spirit’s fate might be affecting yours but that’s just a wild guess.

I got a check maybe a month or so ago for this. Was that maybe for a 2024 under-payment or something, cause I did get that check last year too? Based on the ALPA messaging, it seems that the paper checks for 2025 have not been sent out yet, so maybe this wouldn't have been it?

I’m getting 3 different payments. One is ALPA national, one ALPA local, and one is dues assessed versus collected, apparently I have a refund check there too.

Totalof 3 amounts $4,8xx worth.

The bigger news is dues dropping from 1.85 to 1.55

When I started in 2007 it was 1.95

Then it went down to 1.90

Then 1.85 which is the current rate.

Now 1.55% coming.

That still needs to be approved at BOD.
I heard the pilot group with the best shot luge design gets another .05% taken off their dues. :sarcasm:

May be sarcasm, but not far off base when discussing the ALPA BOD boondoggle.

The XJT contingent used to party like KISS on tour. Dues well spent.

I've had the (dis)pleasure of supporting my MEC at the last 3 of them. Compared to the craziness of the early and mid 2000s, they are pretty calm. Sure there are expenses to run a conference fir over 500 people, but I haven't seen anything extravagant, unless you count the rural Canadian carriers flying in a fresh (dead) fish for people to take a shot and then kiss.
