Air Force One Point One

Yeah, the flag sucks.

Here!

He had to repaint it because it was blue.

Good thing taxpayers are spending millions of dollars for this aircraft that won't have half the capabilities necessary to do the job, and then be limited to domestic operations. Yup, sure sounds like something a bankrupt businessman would do.
Taxpayers would have been paying even more money to keep a museum piece operational. So if we're just tossing taxpayers money around willy nilly is the -200 better? It's been an awesome aircraft for decades but eventually it becomes almost impossible to maintain, not because of a lack of skill or experience but because parts are nonexistent. You hate this bland replacement because it's not the replacement. What will you say about the VC-25B and Gavin Newsom is walking down the steps? You'll cheer it as the country fails. If you're disturbed by AF1 you might not be aware of the money the government spends.

It looks cartoonish.

But it’s parallel to how he treats our country.
Please explain. You're a snarky fellow and you say things without providing any context or definition. A 747 in any livery is cartoonish. If you ever occupy a space where you witness the departure or arrival it doesn't make sense, how does something that big fly that slow?

It looks cartoonish. It’s supposed to be an American flag, not “Hey ChatGPT, combine the American flag with Jonny Rocket’s coiffure in cartoon format”

This plane will not be utilized but anyone but DJT. After he is done in office it is slated to be given to the DJT library. I expect this will just be another Trump airplane him and his family uses with the United State of America, replaced with the words TRUMP. In any circumstance, there arent plans for this particular plane to stay in the fleet after he is gone. Its no coincedence he has the same tacky flag design on his own B757.

I'm not disturbed by AF1 or it's costs.

I am highly concerned with the amount of money we have spent on this "kinda AF1" that the US gets to use only until inauguration day 2029 when it will most likely deliver Trump to Florida if he is still alive and then become his personal airplane.

My question is how much have taxpayers spent on what amounts to a 2-year lease on a sorta AF1?

Just because I was idly wondering about gold anodizing the engine inlets on those RB211s, a quick Bing tells me the 'industry recommendation' for max sustained temperature is 80°C for anodizing and it starts to craze beyond 160°C, and that nacelle thermal anti-ice tries to keep surface temperatures between 60°C-120°C.

Inlet anti ice is normally ducted directly from the later stages of the compressor section of a turbine engine and is only regulated by volume based on temp. There's a reason why inlet leading edges are always bare metal on civilian aircraft, they might be polished but I can't recall anyone ever trying to anodize or plate any heated leading edge. I used to occasionally lay hands on Floyd Mayweathers G-IV and if anyone would gold plate leading edges he would have. That airplane had "The Money Team" emblazoned on both sides of the fuselage.

He’s not going to answer because he’s a chicken• troll.
You're captured and you automatically hate anything that the DSA hasn't promoted. The answer to the question is $400M to retrofit that airplane so it can operate as AF1, but I'm sure you knew that. What's the annual budget to maintain the two VC-25As? I don't hate you, I don't know you.

I’m not ok with spending $400M of taxpayer money a plane that the president will use for three years and then become Trump’s private jet. Are you?

Ok I'll be the hated Ref again (*dodges rotten vegetables*). knot has some weird hangups (me too, probably) and he's a lot more...let's say "Trump-friendly" than I am (or anyone should be, imho). I don't think he's a troll, though, at least not most of the time. I don't recall seeing "Libtardz" etc. deployed, and whatever one thinks of his politics, he contributes to actual aviation threads in a meaningful way.

BTW, FWIW, etc. I think the Qatari 74-8 is the most shameless and open sort of graft imaginable (until Trump comes up with something even more baldly (if you'll pardon the expression) unethical). But I think it's ok to set the bar at "not just random name-calling" when it also includes, you know, actual knowledge of and history with airplanes. Just like the nation at large, we're in danger of purity-testing ourselves into just another echo-chamber.

I don't think he's a troll either. He's also not super pro trump like some other winners here.

That said, he is openly racist and an islamophobe, so I think he takes incoming even for things that he is rational about sometimes.

That’s fair. I shouldn’t have used that language. Not that it’s an excuse, but I’m in a foul mood because I’m sitting at home on Father’s Day while my family is on vacation because my dog is in the vet hospital with acute liver disease, which sucks a lot.

However…Knot’s post history—which is predominantly in the lav—shows consistent attempts to rile people up. Which unfortunately we (myself included, in the above example when I clicked show ignored) respond to. Posting with the goal of getting people angry is absolutely trolling.

I highly doubt he actually believes that this airplane isn’t a massive grift—he just doesn’t care because it doesn’t affect him personally and it gets the “other side” angry.
