Southernjets 787

gonna put an albatross through the windshield in PMDY because your "FODO" screened your captains authority?

It was referring to inflight only. If your QRH and FH can’t help you, there’s not much a MX guy on the ground is gonna help you any further. For example, they might suggest a CB reset. Too many crews been let down the wrong rabbit hole. You can request a MX consult inflight, BUT, it has to be with a FODO intermediary so we don’t directly go one-on-one talk with MX inflight.

We fought this battle about 8 years ago and (mostly) won it thankfully. Not looking forward to moving backwards into that world again.

It’s actually nice. No one is saying you can’t consult MX. It’s just that there is a medium in between who will try to ensure you don’t go down the wrong rabbit hole.

Twas awarded 7ER SLC but never got it as closed soon after.
I did the commute to LAX ER just to get that international life for a couple years. When my seniority could finally hold 330/350 west coast I had a really tough time not bidding it. But elected to just come back to SLC and drive to work…which I’m happy with the decision. But I’d be tempted to bid back down if we could ever get something back here. I’m holding out hope, SOME DAY!!!

The MAX10s were also going to allow retirement of at least some of the older 737-800s. But thanks to delays those 800s got sent to overhaul and will be here til 2030something.
I think the first 40ish will go as we get the max 10s. The “newer” ones are being refurbed with the NEO style first class seats and the older ones seem to only be getting the lav touch up’s. Just my opinion.

Older ones are still coming out of overhaul looking shiny and new. Still stinks they still have the old seats, but they’re all getting the MX work done to keep them flying for more years than my deaf ears and bad back would want.

Also would people please stop chewing on the glare shield padding?

I’m really glad I did it, and quite glad to not be doing it anymore, shortly, if that all makes sense.

LAND ASAP - As soon as possible. It’s in RED, you’d better go find, hopefully, an 8000 foot runway quickly or run the numbers on one you can land at.
LAND ANSA - At nearest suitable airport. Shown in AMBER. It’s not super bad, just you need to get on the ground relatively soon but you have options. I mean, go pee if you have to but don’t exactly drone on forever.

We have Land Immediately. Land As Soon as Possible. Land As Soon as Practical. And Continue Flight.

Guess that guy was on to something. @jhugz
