Acronym overdose here.Mostly a new captain thing. Gets them thinking about LAND ASAP versus LAND ANSA
“Pee don’t poop”. Got it.LAND ASAP - As soon as possible. It’s in RED, you’d better go find, hopefully, an 8000 foot runway quickly or run the numbers on one you can land at.
LAND ANSA - At nearest suitable airport. Shown in AMBER. It’s not super bad, just you need to get on the ground relatively soon but you have options. I mean, go pee if you have to but don’t exactly drone on forever.

Ha!“Pee don’t poop”. Got it.![]()
I’ll take whatever the • gives us a SLC WB base againNaturally I’m a 350 weenie and more widebodies are good, but I don’t get the people thirsty for the 787. Looks like a E-175 and a 767-400 made a disco baby and the cockpit looks like a 737 max.
And I wouldn’t want to spend hours on end with a yoke in my crotch.
Twas awarded 7ER SLC but never got it as closed soon after.I’ll take whatever the • gives us a SLC WB base again
Obviously not a SouthernJetter, so not speaking with authority on the issue. But long ago when the 787-10 was just a rumor for Southernjets, it was said to be a 763 and 764 replacement jet. No clue about the MAX-10's, but I'd guess that they'd be a replacement for SouthernJet's aging NG 737-900's.So are the Max-10’s and 78’s for growth or replacements? Asking for a friend… who might be interested in what hiring looks like down the road barring the world falling apart.
That’s why I love teaching. It’s a lot of work but there are so many subjects to discuss that I rarely have to endure “Cockpit
[Somewhere over Fairbanks]
“If we lost an engine RIGHT NOW and maintenance says to continue to Seattle, where there’s a maintenance base, paint me the picture of how you would respond to that request, the information you would use to make that decision and what time you’d arrive there, if you decided to go. Lets use the OLB, the WHAT-IF function of the SEC on the MFD”
Really, so if you call the dispatcher and want to speak with MX they won’t allow it? Or do you just have to go through dispatch to talk with MX?Over FAI on a 2 engine plane and we’ve lost one motor and someone wants me to continue to SEA? Yeah, hard pass. We’re diverting to ANC.
Did I pass?
(Is land at the nearest suitable airport not a thing on an A350? Does it give LAND ASAP in amber and red?)
On a side note, I’m surprised your shop allows a direct comm with MX control while airborne. At our virtual shop, there’s been cases where that’s led down the wrong rabbit hole, so we don’t discuss direct with MX. We get a Flight Ops duty officer patched first, who then acts as a filtering source /liasion with MX. To help ensure no wrong rabbit holes.

Which is a shift! United loved the -10, at least it used to. Because (I've read) it fit their needs perfectly, in terms of popular high capacity, high-density trips to Europe from Chicago and Newark. Tokyo and Singapore from LAX and SFO and South America, from Houston. The -9 (reportably) had too much range for those destinations and was more or less the more modern fuel efficient 772 replacement of the fleet. And the -10 was the 763/764 replacement, offering an excellent combo of both pax and also, cargo opportunities for those routes. Leveraging its large capacity for premium travel on those popular routes, with high business travel demand.Interesting that you guys are going for the -10. Listening to the higher ups at globe airlines it sounds like they only want the -9’s going forward. They state it’s the perfect combination of range, cargo, and pax.
That sounds about as fun as sitting and listening to someone go on about the fact that they have to retire at 65. And then start running the numbers on how much more they would make if the age changed to 67.I like to cross my legs and stare at my Doc Martin 1461’s, contemplatively, when the “…and then my third ex-wives was from The Phillipines, but then she took up pickleball and started getting mouthy and ended up leaving me…” starts.
Agreed. I see it as "Meh", especially the -8. I do like the idea of the redesigned bleed air system though.Naturally I’m a 350 weenie and more widebodies are good, but I don’t get the people thirsty for the 787. ahem the 737-900ERs are our newest 737s (~10 years average), so they aren't going anywhere for a bit.Obviously not a SouthernJetter, so not speaking with authority on the issue. Just a guess...
On the 330/350, did they change the message from the red/yellow, but same text, LAND ASAP from the 320?Ha!
it stays up on the ECAM after you’re complete in order to to remind you to get it on the ground.
