Allegiant and Sun Country to merge...

I love chicken wings and beer....
It does kind of make sense, but I had no idea this one was coming. Glad both offices are unionized. I guess NOC employees in MSP will have to make the move to LAS, or find new jobs.

I’m willing to trade the desert for MSP. Will it be split control ops or just move everything to Minnesota?

I don't know of any merger that proposed split control. The HA/AS one has an extended period of time for the transition, but the end game is everyone moving to SEA. The blocked B6/NK merger only guaranteed a "support center" of some sort in FLL and no net loss of jobs from the state, it did not guarantee that dispatch specifically would be allowed to remain in FLL and operate a split NOC.

Yeah, it's the negative side of dispatching...you have to move for the job (or find a new job) when mergers happen. And a lot of them have happened over the last 20 years...
Yea moving is a negative for sure, but at least the job is *usually* guaranteed so long as you do so. A lot of other corporate mergers simply involve "redundancies" and layoffs....

Does that mean dispatch pay goes up by chance for the Allegiant dispatchers(eventually )? I wonder what the other LCC is gonna do
Starting negotiations soon for the new CBA within the coming months. The AAY DX group seem to all be on the same page for the most part of what we want/need. Having the acquisition of SY should give us more leverage in acquiring what we want. But who knows what the future will hold, many unknowns await us now.

Doesn’t UPS have an HQ in ATL but dispatch out of SDF? One can dream. We need more OCC diversity. You think they pay the moving expenses for the group?
UPS as an overall company (not just the airline) is headquartered in Atlanta, so that would make sense.

I don't normally check my company email during my days off but this is now public..

Sun Country folks, thought?

Yeah, initial shock from everyone but the main questions going into this are based around the JCBA meetings. SCX being TWU and AAY are Teamsters, so seeing pay being a a big difference (per pay spreadsheet), there are bound to be additional concerns about merging seniority, moving cost reimbursement, annual hours, shift structure, etc.
