Flight Bags

My LW bag had an issue yesterday where the wheel started rubbing like a brake. I took it out of the view of passengers in the terminal and gave it a few whacks, and now it's happy again.

I almost feel guilty for cheating on it with the B&R.

Has anybody gone from Clarity Aloft to Bose Proflight in a 737?

The company wants to buy me a new headset and I can't find anything I like.

I would say almost half the captains I fly with use the ProFlight and have nothing but good to say about it, provided you can get ear tips that fit properly.

These flight bags are so expensive. I feel like they should give us a 30 day money back guarantee in case they don't work.

Isn’t there still a crew outfitters luggage store downstairs in DFW? You could check out in person before ordering.

oh, I also like being able to stuff the uniform cardigan into the bag, and we have to carry our own safety vests. I don’t object to wearing the vest, but why the company decided on issuing them to the pilots vs stocking the coat closets and/or jetbridges I have no idea.
I was anti carrying vest initially. At the previous airline we only had to wear them on intl walk arounds and had one hung up in the cockpit for such occasions. Then the new overlords determined it was required everywhere and issued one to each pilot to bring. In the end I think I prefer this because it does feel a bit more sanitary, and I do think walking out on the ramp is one of the more dangerous parts of the job. I've been assimilated.

I'm surprised your FOM doesn't prohibit it.

Our new overlords don't allow the use of a backpack (even when clipped to luggage) so I've got to replace my "flight case" with something else. Which is unfortunate (but apparently very on brand) because my backpack flight case doubled as a get out and do stuff/photography gear bag on long overnights.
I honestly wouldn’t worry too much about it. Plenty of people rocking backpacks.

Interesting that's a thing.

@BobDDuck if you go sans backpack, big fan of my Peak Design V1 messenger. Gotta look on eBay these days to find the older ones, but they are darn nice. The newer versions are good too, but I really like the V1. Though I'm thinking of moving to a backpack myself as my apparent old man shoulders don't like the messenger loaded down on long photo walks. Also saw this one the other day that looks promising...
