This industry sucks (rant)

Progressive, chronic sleep depravation will absolutely wreck your health. Probably more than any other single thing.

I watched people do it voluntarily, knowing what they're doing, semi-voluntarily, fooling themselves that what sleep they get is fine and involuntarily, taking care of a relative that requires 24/7 care without help. It always ends the same.

I've watched people age 5 years for every year, and 20 years in six months.

Make time to sleep, learn to sleep in the time you have or remove the activity that is causing problems.

That's the way it is.

You're absolutely correct, and I 100% agree. At the urging of people here, I've been holding out for the possibility of a mainline job, but I've been looking at exit strategies. It's now probably time to start going down that road.

Also, because it may not be apparent to folks, if I have signs or symptoms of acute fatigue, I call out FTG. There's nothing I can do about the chronic fatigue, though, or long-term poor sleep. And it is (and has been) impacting my health.
