United 2025

I got to the face to face.
and then they sent u this email today? man I bet some intern deleted the folder with all the applicants that had made it to a certain point. we had that happen at SWA some years back. they deleted the folder with all the applicants from the job positing. It was a • how.

If you fail the test you also have to wait 6 months to reapply.
Okay, I got the video interview and got the TBNT after that, never made it to the test/f2f. I'm hearing that if you didn't get the f2f/test, you can reapply.

With the *tentative* classes approved thru early 2026, rumor is the re-opening is for additional applicants to pool for later start dates. I believe as long as you weren't invited / flown out for in person testing you are able to reapply.
Is that going to open up soon?

Ok I just got the actual TBNT email, don’t understand the point of the last email.
I did as well, after receiving the email earlier this week encouraging me to reapply when they post again. I emailed them for clarity, they said the TBNT was an automated email when they closed the posting, and we are still eligible to reapply when they post again later this week.

I mean.. do I apply again if I’m still waiting for an answer on my video interview?
Offers are going out last week and this week...I would presume if they haven't gotten back to you yet about your video interview, that you're not under consideration for the upcoming class. My understanding is that you can apply again unless you were selected for the test/in-person interview, in which case you'd have to wait six months.

The answer is always "yes". Even within the 6 months. You will probably be an immediate rejection but it never hurts.

Position is open again. Is this for the upcoming class or the one after it?
One class at a time! They just sent out offers for the class starting in September. The latest posting is for the class after that, not sure when it will start...November perhaps? And then there is supposed to be one more class after that.

Does United give those with no dispatch experience a chance? Should I attempt to apply for it? Or should I wait until I get experience first?

You're welcome to apply, but the only people in recent years I've seen get a dispatch position without experience were internal hires. So if you have your heart set on UA, that might be something you could pursue...see if there are any jobs like crew scheduling posted. (It does kind of tie you down to one major though.)

Also i think scheduling has a 2yr seat lock

So I got that email last week from the UA recruiter encouraging to apply again. 2 days later I got the official TBNT email. And today, I applied with the new posting. But when I login to UA portal with my email it says “not selected”. But I didn’t get a new TBNT email? Is this an IT error or is anyone else seeing the same thing?

Going the internal route locks you into whatever position you’re in for 18 months. Expect CS to open up sometime in the next month or two. They’ve had some recent promotions (one of which is for that September DX class.)
Curious where people at United live, specifically people who are married and have kids. Just some light perusing makes it seem like first year pay for somebody like that is...untenable...which is wild since it is a major with competitive pay.
I know dispatchers, routers, and crew schedulers that all commute from (quite literally) all over the world to get in. If a scheduler making 60k starting can pull it off, I can’t imagine a first year dispatcher having an issue making that work if they budget for it.

For DX, with their schedule, I wouldn’t recommend commuting anywhere outside of the lower 48. All the other departments? Go for it. We have people that fly in from Singapore and Bahrain.
