Alaska Hawaiian Merger

SFO will likely close. Apparently R.L. is telling CQ ground school classes that.

SAN terminal opens up in September for phase 1. So looking like a displacement bid? Could be a SAN base opening. Rather than just reducing SFO with a lot of downgrades and FO’s displaced out of various bases.

239 mainline aircraft EOY 2019. 245 now. Not really growth.
SAN base is not happening any time soon per DM.

Like I said, perspective when DM or RL are all rah rah about hiring. By the time those new hires are online (if it happens), we’ll likely be a smaller airline (pilot staffing wise) than when I was hired.

No argument from me. We are saying the same thing: Revenue will grow. Your career will not progress.

Even if it’s a bid with vacancies and displacements, vacancies are awarded first.

After that, the remaining necessary displacements are processed.

I am interested to see what happens after the 25th of this month (or whatever the cutoff date is) for medical expirations/folks becoming illegal for August? Not wishing that fate on anyone (we're all one thing away from losing the medical), but I am curious what the impact of the new FOM policy will be to the system on 1 Aug.

I bet negligible. Some of the rumors floating around were rather…. Fantastical

I mean one would certainly hope so. But looking at that FO list, I do wonder. Then again, QOL is probably the reason for some of them, I've just never understood the ones who are senior enough to have great QOL on the left seat too. This among is among other things about this business I'm just too ignorant to understand, admittedly.

I mean maybe aug 1 will hit and we’ll all magically get more senior. I just think the original rumors going around were way too much a combination of wishful thinking and rubbernecking at others potential misfortune to seem very true to me.

SEA just went 2007 for the most junior upgrade. 20 years is standard, for now…

I'm not sure you can call anything right now. We basically have had no movement since 1282. I've had a little reverse movement. Not at all itching to upgrade, but for the last year the upgrade time has been *infinity*. Was 4-5 years when I was hired. I imagine it will come back down sometime, eventually. Maybe delayed due to the merger and lack of real organic 737 growth. But I don't know much, to be fair.

I’m just gonna throw out some random pilot Internet advice but if your EKG is off, perhaps something one should get looked at. And not ignore or hide it pretending it will go away / get better.

The heart is no joke to mess with.
