Wow, that filing is interesting, sure looks more like a HQ than just a new FTC.. I wonder with this, if the city of Chicago tries to get them to stay after Willis, if that means United would ditch these plans? Or maybe move non-operational persons to DEN and keep NOC in Chicago maybe

Honestly, it's anyone's guess. My running theory is that UA wants something more akin to what AA and DL have, which is a whole campus.
Right now, we're spread across 2 Locations in the Chicagoland area, Pilot Training is in DEN, and Inflight training is in IAH. The IAH training facility is relatively new so I can't imagine they'd leave (especially with the footprint of all the former Continental assets there). a DEN based NOC would be the first time it'd be on property owned by UA. Arlington, Willis, and Elk Grove (any OG's here feel free to correct me) were all on/ in leased buildings. Even with all that. I don't have high hopes that any of it comes to fruition. There are way too many variables for me to bet on anything in favor of a move.

Yup, it's way too early to say what ends up happening. But that brochure wasn't cheap for United to create, I'm sure, and it does mention an NOC on page 21, so it's definitely something being considered or at least looked at. What ultimately ends up happening, as you said, is anyone's guess at this point.

Yes but on page 27 it mentions 400 employees for the NOC. Not sure of UA's seniority list, but that sounds low for an entire NOC which I assume would include Crew Scheduling and Maintenance as well as Dispatch. A split NOC maybe?

Yeah, United has well over 500 dispatchers at this point. The 400 could just refer to the number of desks within the office though, which would make more sense. A split NOC is doubtful...the only airline I'm aware that has one right now is Spirit....but this is the airline industry, so never say never.

The important thing to remember though, is that even if we move to DEN, Portillo's has a new location going up at 56th/Tower. Which I think is even closer than the one we have over by the AH NOC. So...... same same. But different

I saw a rumor years ago, probably on here, that said UA wanted a split OCC on two different power grids. No idea if that was based on facts or not, but the thought did pop back into my head when I saw the 400 number.

Right. That filing mentions something like 5000 employees reporting there for work. (remind me to buy a house in Reunion before everyone moves and jacks up the prices). If I had to guess the total workforce in the AH buildings has to be at least 1000 employees on the low end. Because traffic on Tower wasn't already a nightmare lol.

Yeah, lots of things get discussed by management without ultimately being acted on, but I think I heard rumblings about that myself. United did in fact, decades ago, have multiple dispatch offices - I believe one in SFO, one in ORD, and one in IAD? I could be wrong on the exact locations, as it was well before my time, before moving everyone to Chicago, I think in the 1980s? Northwest also had a dispatch office in Japan for many decades. All this being said, the current management at UAL seems very "unitary" in the sense of enjoying having everyone in the same room. I'm not saying a split office is impossible, but I'd be really surprised if it happens any time soon.
DL still has a kind of OCC in Japan, from what i was told they are licensed FAA dispatchers there but im not sure if they do any of the dispatching, but could be wrong
