AA Summer 2025 New Hire Classes

Total of 18 new hires currently planned with July and August classes. At the moment, new hires will be pulled from the existing hiring pool. Those with flightkeys and dispatch experience will fill most of the slots.

Things change fast with hiring plans so if you are not in the hiring pool at the moment, there could be a job posting if they change plans or hire more than planned.
 
I applied and have dispatch experience but no FK experience and got the TBNT. I think that is the KEY (haha) is having FK experience. Good luck to all.
 
I think they're over valuing flightkeys experience a bit. I get wanting familiarity with the system you're using but fk really isnt THAT hard to get the hang of. The primary difficulty is that this system was made by people who seemingly have no clue what a dispatcher does, and certainly not what a dispatcher in America does. So it gives you a technically legal plan as a baseline. You correct the stupid stuff (usually everything but the route but sometimes the route as well) and fire it off. Then you just have to realize that once you release your plan, it still tries to optimize and will try to find you new altitudes or even routes. So you have to really watch if a new release is needed. But it's really not that hard to learn.

Fortumately the tools it gives you to make actually competent plans are pretty good!

Nothing more than an excuse to ignore internals and to keep only hiring from envoy.

Flightkeys is still fairly new to domestic so flightkeys experience makes training easier.

Some of the new hires with inexperience struggled so experience is being prioritized now.
 
AA dispatch since the 2015 JCBA has done vacation bidding by dispatch hire date. Internals with a lot of time being hired has no effect on seniority for vacation bidding anymore.
But.. internals' AA seniority date determines the amount of vacation they get. Who cares when you bid if you have 4 or 5 weeks. Granted they won't get the weeks they want but it's more 'compensation' than the majority of those hired from envoy. Those from envoy with three years and the right form get to keep their vacation seniority for accrual.

Or maybe that it’s the fact that internals on average take way longer to get signed off? I’m in no way saying that internals can’t be/aren’t good dispatchers but it’s just a fact they typically take longer to get signed off since they’re having to learn both the programs as well as how to dispatch in general

Its not a reason to not hire internals. Those on the list already will get the vacation days they want before anyone hired. As you said it hurts internals more as they have a lot of vacation time but sometimes cant bid it all or bid when they want it.

Seems to work alright at delta.
 
In the last few years that I have been at American, every hiring class had a handful of internals in it. One internal that got hired in January had only been at AA for one year. There very well could be internals in the hiring pool this round too, but yes majority we hire from is Envoy. Although we did have one come from JetBlue last round as well. That FKYs experience does help.

The only two people I have personally seen fail so far in dispatch were actually externals. One because the guy just straight up did not try at all, isolated himself and made no attempt to train. The other had a bad attitude and constantly blamed everyone else but himself for not passing. I have heard at Delta sometimes the internals can struggle or take longer to train but majority of their hiring does seem to be internals and work for them. AA usually has a Fall class so I’m guessing they would be hiring in a new round sometime between September to November as well. I was just told by a friend at Delta they will begin using Flight Keys soon themselves. Heard Alaska is as well.

I do agree, I think we are putting too much emphasis on needing FKYs specific experience. It’s a different program, but it’s not insanely difficult to learn. To me as someone who didn’t come from Envoy, FOS/DECS was harder to learn with all the coding and special inputs needed for any command. Had its own weird glitches too. Calculated faster but had more steps. I overall prefer FKYs, I’m just used to this type of set up from previous dx programs. It’s a much more modern version of Saber Flight Plan Manager, and created by the same people. Surprised we don’t favor companies that use FPM as well. Also, as long as you lock in everything when you’re planning on FKYs, even if it optimizes a new route or altitude, etc on a new tab it does not change what you have released or the information that the crew get. So it may optimize and change things on a separate tab, but unless you choose to revise the release with that new info, what you have planned and locked in should be set. There’s not usually a need to re-release unless you want to, or have a tail swap, crew change, etc. The set up at AA is getting better and better with time, although it still has some glitches to work out. Our FKYs team has done a pretty good job working with the developers, and even take trips to Vienna sometimes to collaborate with them on how to improve FKYs for what we need.

I work here, proficient in decs/oms/sabre in general. Don’t matter, they don’t care about internals
 
Just my two cents, but you can either understand how things work and try to take advantage of it, or you can complain about it and make excuses. If your ultimate goal is American, then learn what gives you the best chance and do that. Making ridiculous claims that American doesn't care about internals only comes off as sour grapes, because that is demonstrably false.
 
Absolute nonsense. With the exception of a couple of classes ago, every class since Covid has had multiple internals
Everybody else got TBNT. A lot of people in the operation center has a license and don’t get interview at all. Now they sent out letter saying only going to call people who are in the pool. Get that training class done faster so the manager can show how much he has done for the operations. This will continue unless there’s a new manager
