AA Engine Fire in DEN

Overwing evac requires flaps at 40 and speed brake down. Not sure what happened, but flaps look clean. Picture here shoes normal rampers trying to use stairs to get people down….

It has been a curious thought sometimes what may happen when an airliner pulls into the gate without the APU and the fuel shutoff valve does not close completely, without air to blow the flame away or out... I may partake a guess it could look like this?

Passengers in the over wing exits probably don’t know there isn’t a slide. A couple people go out and the rest follow.

Note to self, have ARFF always follow you to the gate for any engine issues.

It's oddly similar to the China Airlines 737 fire where fuel dripped on the exhaust.

There is no FA jumpseat anywhere near the window exits.

I’ll never understand the hesitancy to declare an emergency. If you’re diverting to an airport you didn’t intend on landing for anything other than weather or bingo fuel to punch out, why not just declare?

Was the evacuation started by one of the pax before any of the crew knew about it? That might explain a lot.
