At that age, a broken hip or pelvis can start the clock.

My father had a rapid dementia. Thankfully, he was somewhat self-aware and just couldn’t make sense of his cognitive decline. He maintained his mobility and sense of humor until his final weeks. He thought it was sadly humorous that he couldn’t remember anything.

I’m an atheist. I used to have well-developed, albeit lengthy, arguments against belief in one or more gods. My arguments has evolved into one sentence.

A loving and omnipotent god would not allow people to outlive their dogs or let aging folks suffer with dementia.

Sorry to hear above your dad. Dementia is ugly. My grandfather suffered from dementia. He died in his sleep, likely a stroke or heart attack, sparing him from the last stages of dementia. My other grandfather had renal cancer. He was doing well, then had a fall. He was gone a month later.

I'm also an atheist. Your point about the seemingly lack of a loving
god is well-taken, but it's also a false dichotomy. If there is a god, maybe he/she (if god has a gender) is omnipotent but not loving, or maybe they aren't at all involved with humans, or maybe god enjoys the suffering of others. Or there may be multiple gods.

By one of the surviving pax, described as an executive assistant and artist-relations consultant. This lady egressed the Learjet along with the two dogs onboard and was deemed to have minor injuries, but racked up $105,000 in medical bills and did not have health insurance.

Suing the City of Scottsdale alleging that the aircraft the Learjet impacted when it departed the runway, a Gulfstream G200, was parked inside an Obstacle Free Area….a zone around a runway designed to have sufficient distance from aircraft suffering a runway excursion. Also being sued is Vince Neil’s company, claiming the deceased pilot negligent and the co-pilot negligent, for not deploying the Learjet’s drag chute on landing.

No mention in the suit of anything related to the landing gear damage incurred. or repairs made to it, of the old Lear 35A model.

That being said, this suit at least has factual basis that can be tested with regard to what is a safe distance for an OFA. If the complaint is unreasonable, it won't go anywhere.

The parked aircraft on the ramp had nothing causal to do with what caused the accident, only tertiary with regards to the death of the pilot post-impact, which this suit seemingly has nothing to do with. One would think a lawsuit more related to the landing gear issues of this aircraft, the causal factors, would be more appropriate coming from a pax, but probably no deep pockets there to chase after.

You’re right, with regards to rhetorical logic. Oddly, invoking dogs and demented old folks plays well with test audiences as folks are reminded that prayer didn’t really deliver when it mattered.

There's no point trying to sue some A/P in Oklahoma when it might be possible to sue the city of Scottsdale. Sue everyone, especially those with the deep pockets.

Well, you sue everybody and let the insurance companies sort out the math.

In 20 years, I’ve been hit twice by insured motorists. When the insurance companies were difficult, I sued their clients. The battle goes from one on one to two on one.

The law firm promised the plaintiff a paycheck, the law firm is going to get them a paycheck using whatever legal means they have at their disposal. It’s not personal, it’s just… ewwwwww, attorneys.
