Unwilling to move

Got a big problem. It turns out I won't move for work in aviation.

What's the chances of starting a 121 dispatch company?

Can't be a pilot and way too long to get a BS (bullseet haha) degree in Airport Management

Won't move for work as a dispatcher

Ground Ops is dirty and poor

Can I make it? Dispatchers are the nicest ppl in aviation. Please give advice

I can also do a consultancy but that takes longer than a degree to get schooled on it

Thanks
Also I'm not too bad at weather , could I be an aviation weatherman?

Not a dispatcher - just an old guy with a lot of life's experience.

You limit yourself and your future opportunities one hell'uva a lot by limiting yourself thusly.

Your choice, of course, but it seems like an insanely dumb course to pursue to me.

To follow a dream/desire can open doors with results unimaginable until you walk through; to refuse means you lose things you might never guess.

We must live in reality, Bob. There's no helping it if we can't stop the rain. We only live in the midst of it, and man. It rains.

Not sure if your a troll or not, but plenty of dispatchers commute.
I think that's with flight benefits and union protection, though? I don't know if a regional would take on a freshie and be happy with a commuting person. Without flight benefits, I dont see the point in paying to fly to a regional job. It would be so expensive.

So you list a lot you can't or won't do.

What will you?

I don't disagree that it rains, but am not sure, exactly, what that means.

Make your life what you want it to be. No one else can do that for you.
I'm not asking anyone to work for me. That's a strange notion altogether. I'm asking for real talk about things I can do...to "make my life what I want it to be" ....whatever that means.

I listed: 3rd party 121 dispatching company, aviation consulancy, and weather service
I could throw in software as a service to aviation, maybe to make something dispatchers actually like, instead of the crap they get stuck with

But I just don't like electronics so much, so I'd rather not.

It would help if you listed the city you currently live in. Also do you have a license?

Yes you get flight benefits day one working for an airline.

You get flight benefits at any random regional? That's not what I heard. I heard you get flight benefits at the mainlines, or limited flight benefits at choice regionals.

The city I live in has no aviation HQ nearby. So there's no significant relations to any 121 operations and that's all I want to say about it. Commutes will equal multiple hours, shortest distance, at the least. So that will mean one day each for travel, separate from working days, and amount to "living elsewhere" but in worser conditions than simply moving somewhere.

Also I like my living place and dont want people to move here. If they find out, they might.

People at regionals commute. They usually have a commuter policy. You really are being pretty vague here with your description. No degree? No one will want you as a consultant. That is a pretty competitive field anyways. Dispatch companies are pretty tough to get going. No US carrier is going to use a 3rd party to dispatch...at least no 121 carrier.

Okay. Thank you for the reality check. I think it means I'm not qualified and/or had unattainable goals in mind. It seemed vague because I didn't have more to add. Sorry about that. Thank you for the time you spared to answer my post.
Well between this thread and your last thread I think you have done a pretty good job at talking yourself out of being a dispatcher. Best of luck
Alright. Thanks, BobDispatch.

I'm just going to say it.

The 3rd party dispatch for 121 idea is a dead end.

Nobody will fault you for dreaming.

Find a different idea.

I might recommend something else in aviation operations. If you live in a town with a big class B airport look at their job postings.

There's a class B but it's a bit more than an hour of driving. But with traffic conditions and weather it gets a bit more complicated.

I've got a class C not too far. Is it worth it, if it's not a class B?

You cant fight for a dream alone. The more you fight alone, the less anyone wants to help you. My years might not be impressive on my stripes but I had one or two experiences that I can see the world in more than one narrow perspective.

What's real is real and all dreams end with waking up to what is real.

Well, they're literally not hiring anyone for anything at the class C. Zero job postings altogether.

That's it for me, thread. Time to get my head out of the clouds.
