Shockwave jet truck explosion at KBTL airshow

somewhat aircraft related….

Explosion on the jet engine powered Shockwave big rig as it was deploying its drag chute. The previous explosions seen ahead of the truck are unrelated pyrotechnics that were previously set off for entertainment, well before the truck got to that point. Driver Chris Darnell fatally injured.

I'll start. WTF? How many kids could be fed for how many weeks on the price of that, ah, truck?

Curious, because I only know car tires and their letter rating system. But what kinda tire for a truck is rated for 350mph?

I think truck tires are more akin to aircraft tires than car tires, but I doubt they're rated for those speeds. But this is not a new type of operation, I recall first seeing if not this truck, something very similar, at the air races back in the early '90s. This is the only accident I can recall, but admittedly I wasn't paying much attention, so I would've assumed they've figured that out by now. You know what they say about the word "assume".
