No. You won't get FLARE mode, and a few other things. We had a 321 NEO smack its tail on landing due to an OEB related to RAs not working after a long descent over water.

Reading that sounds like with no working RA they didn’t get altitude callouts. It was a hard landing, bounce, and then pulling back the side stick more which caused the tail strike.

One of the reasons they got a hard landing to begin with was because the plane never went into flare mode, so result of the stick inputs were not as expected during that phase of flight.

Oh I see, normal law flare mode, that’s incumbent on functioning RAs. Sorry my Bus knowledge flushed and needs to be refreshed from time to time.

So are these 5G limitations gonna affect even normal ops landings for Buses?

On the 737, we have been given a heads up on 5G stuff if NOTAMed, can’t do anything CAT I SA, II, III, auto land, hand flown AIII, or authorization required RNAV approaches.

So here's a question given all the 5G buzz... Can an Airbus 320/330 series be flown normally (and by that I mean transitioning to/from Normal Law for takeoff/landing) without *any* radar altimeter inputs?

Yes, there is a procedure for that. It’s kind of convoluted but yes.

Are you still LAX? Probably be tough for them to put IOE on an NYC crew for ya.
I do OE system-wide. It would probably start and end with a DH for a NYC student. most of my CA OE’s have been ATL pilots and FOs DTW.

I got my type in UALs 200 at Stapleton. That autopilot still gives me anxiety. You sat engineer in it no?

Nah, the -200’s didn’t have an engineer. I think the early -100’s did though.

Go on

No.

I’d probably start here if the RA starts going cattywumpus:

Do you know if/when a specific aircraft has steel or carbon brakes installed? Do you have a preference for either?
