American Airlines CEO Parker to retire in March, President Isom to take reins
Parker is the second airline CEO after Southwest's to announce retirement this year.

Say what you will, but he stuck it out during the pandemic to continue to bleed the airline by adding $22 billion in debt, bringing the grand total owed to $50 billion, and leaving his successor to clean up the mess. Lesser men would have bailed and pulled their golden parachutes much earlier.

Parker out as CEO.
Isom in.
Parker still Chairman of the Board.

Pretty sure our Chairman isn't just for ceremonies. But you're probably right.Chairman is all but a ceremonial position. He gets to keep a title and hang around to see what’s going on, but he’ll have no control. On many boards, the Chair doesn’t even get a vote unless there’s a tie.

That is correct. That’s because purple doesn’t separate the positions. Fred is both chairman and CEO. The CEO part is where the power is.
