Oh Delta XXVIII

Where were all the pearl-clutching “ZOMG the supply chain” types when we were hoarding toilet paper and using vodka for hand sanitizer? :)

You don't see any differences in the sudden shock that occurred in 2020 vs what we're experiencing now? One was a sudden demand which seemed to get met eventually as factories/companies responded. What we're in now? Who knows....But it feels different than what went on in March '20.

Months ago I was thinking out loud asking about how does this all work (vaccinate our way out of this) when billions of people in underdeveloped countries can't receive a vaccine soon enough to prevent mutation. Throw every American anti-vaxxer in a camp and jab them, you'll still be left with corners of the world where variants arise.......And then our Pharma companies will get right on it! One month, two months to develop (we'll cut down trials even further) and then the "new and improved' jabs will start.....And the cycle will repeat itself. Seems like a broken model.

OR

We can hope that the latest variant spreads wildly, is very mild and it passes through the population with minimal carnage.
Welcome to the rebellion.

The mask-clutching have panicked and want more masks, shots, and restrictions.

Like the guy who came in my ORD hotel gym at 2am and demanded I wear a mask (this was PRE-micron), despite us being the only two people in a large hotel fitness room, and 30+ feet apart from his treadmill to my elliptical.

There are people that have this absolute psychological need to be drama kings/queens. The mask mandates give them the legal authority to do so.

It basically made crack and meth legal.

I told him I'd be done in about 4 minutes since I'd been in the gym 30+ minutes and my time cycle was ending anyway. He ended up getting the front desk lady to rat me out.

Come on. That was March-April 2020 when no one had any idea how bad this Covid thing would be. It calmed down.

I’ve said it numerous times, I couldn’t care less about Covid. I do care about the consequences of our actions to “fight” covid.

The paper products lunacy was good and strong for most of 2020.

Oh, how revisionists are so soon to forget. But Pepridge FAAAAAHMS remembuhh! :)

I find the overlap between the "we need guns to protect ourselves from tyranny" and "wearing a piece of cloth on my face makes it so I can't function correctly" incredibly amusing. Anybody wants to take over this country they just need to weaponize mild discomfort and it would be all over.

Or close a Chipotle early.

Also, anyone blaming mask mandates on airplanes for insane people beating up flight attendants is an absolute idiot.

“I was a perfectly normal person, but having to wear this thin piece of paper from Fargo to Chicago just brought out a rage in me I’ve never seen in myself before”.

I think anyone with half a brain knows the real cause is that some people know they can’t get booze on a flight, so they go pound 5 vodka tonics at the airport bar before boarding to get them through it…but the type of person who does that is also the type of person to beat on a flight attendant once the buzz starts wearing off.

Plus I think now it's a whole lot more socially acceptable to be a poo bag of a human being. Even just a few years ago that kind of stuff would lead to embarrassment, now all kinds of awful behavior gets you elevated to "freedumb fighter" and "patriot."

I don't even like wearing pants, but apparently that's what they call a societal norm and if I want to function in society I'm supposed to wear pants. Where is the outrage for them forcing us to wear pants?
