Retiring from the Navy

It's been awhile and I am back to the party........however, it's official by BIG Navy. My 20 years in the Navy is coming and my last day on active duty is June 30, 2022. I'm stoked and super excited. After that, I'm looking at going to a Part 135 or a Part 121 company. Any suggestions? I am a cadet at Skywest Airlines with 1165TT and 63 hours multi. Hoping to be around 1500 hours by that timeframe. Navy has been fun but I don't miss all the politics and BS in Naval Aviation.

Stop loss! :p

Congratz and thank you for serving. 20 years is a long time. I don't know what a cadet at Skywest is but with your quals I'd say that's your best bet. I'm guessing your hired at Skywest as soon as you get to 1500 hours?

Thanks all! Looking forward to go to the 135 or 121 world for my second chapter of my life.

Were you HSL? i forgot what your rate was.

I'm at an HSM squadron in Jacksonville, FL no more HSL....those days are over. I am an AD - Aviation Machinist Mate.

Thank you! That's the plan. I'm hoping to hit 1500TT sometimes next year. I was at RTAG San Diego and talked with a bunch of airline recruiters that was there. I'll interview with Skywest probably in spring 2022. I'll also interview with a bunch of regionals when I am on Job Hunting leave. I applied to several 135 charters in NE Florida with good recommendations but who knows with ATP Flight Schools, Jacksonville University and other CFIs nearby, it's competitive. Funny thing is these guys are hiring SIC with 700TT and they are telling me they want 1200TT. Oh well.

one of our maintenance heads where I’m at was an old school ADR in the Navy. Then later an ADJ.

Bravo Zulu on retirement. Since you’re an AD, if you haven’t already - be sure to contact your FSDO about getting the 8610 signed off for your A&P tests.

Good luck.
