Looking at the skills required for this position, I can't imagine that there's a lot of candidates currently in the job market that meet the qualifications for this position.
But at the end of the day, it's a dispatch job at UPS which means job security.

Required Skills:
  • FAA Certification - Aircraft Dispatch License.
  • International Aircraft Dispatch Experience.
  • 4 Years Lido Experience (User or Administrator).

Additional Skills:
  • Certification - LIDO Certified Training Course.
  • Certification - Required UPS Aircraft Dispatch FAA Training.
  • Bachelor’s Degree - Aeronautical Engineering.

Job Summary:

The Flight Planning Support Supervisor supports the Lufthansa Integrated Dispatch Operations (LIDO) flight planning application used to maintain operational control of UPS flights. He/She maintains real time, mission critical, aeronautical data within the LIDO application in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration regulations. Applies data and functions to the application to maximize effectiveness and monitors UPS interfaces and servers to ensure Flight Control Dispatchers have the ability to calculate flight plans and monitor flights. Rotate shift every 6 weeks.

Job Description:

Maintains availability of the LIDO Flight Planning System and programs necessary to support to ensure proper planning and operational control of UPS flight segments. Monitors tools displaying current status of applications and interfaces to ensure proper operation. Obtains over flight permits to allow aircraft to fly in foreign approved airspace. Conducts data maintenance activities to ensure background data is current and regulatory compliant. Audits and updates (e.g., block hour reports, over flight cost reports, taxi time audits, etc.) to adhere to regulatory requirements and ensure effective operation of the Airline. Completes test scripts for monthly patch installations and version changes to ensure systems function correctly.

Performs post patch installations to ensure the patch has been deleted and data is flowing as required.

Not sure how accurate this is, but since the title contains the word supervisor, be aware that UPS may not hire the person into dispatch in the future. Keep that in mind if your game plan would be to use this a "foot in the door".
 
Additional skills “UPS dispatch training”. An external candidate obviously isn’t going to have that. This probably will be an internal hire [emoji2375]

This is obviously a job that will be given to one of the current dispatchers. Every airline has supervisor positions for their flight planning systems as well as other important systems(software) used by dispatchers and those are jobs done by dispatchers for a few years until that dispatcher moves up or decides to move back to dispatching.

I wouldn't count on it...if I recall correctly, the supervisors at UPS are non-union and make less than the dispatchers do. So...it is very doubtful that any current dispatchers will apply for it.

Supervisors are not covered under the dispatch contract, or any other contract. The company in the past would not consider someone working under a supervisor title for a dispatch position. This is what was explained here when they had a dispatch sup opening that had the same job function as dispatcher.

That is correct. Along with DX still having a pension and management losing theirs shortly.
